Chris Evans returning to MCU for new Avengers movie
As a long-time Marvel fan, I can hardly contain my excitement as Chris Evans is set to return to the MCU! After bidding farewell to Captain America in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, I never thought I’d see Steve Rogers back on the big screen. But now, with the confirmation of his role in Avengers: Doomsday, it feels like Christmas has come early!
Chris Evans is returning to the MCU as part of the cast for Avengers: Doomsday, aka Avengers 5.
While specifics of his role are currently unknown, the actor’s involvement in the film has been confirmed (via Deadline).
As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but reminisce about the iconic portrayal of Captain America by none other than Chris Evans in the Marvel Cinematic Universe until his final appearance in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. Subsequently, Anthony Mackie stepped into the role. Most recently, I found myself back in the Marvel universe this summer, reprising my role as Johnny Storm from Fox’s Fantastic Four films in Deadpool & Wolverine.
There’s a chance the actor might play either of the roles again for “Doomsday,” or they could adopt a completely fresh character similar to what Robert Downey Jr has done.
Previously announced during the summertime, it has been made official that Robert Downey Jr., who played Iron Man, will reappear within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as Victor Von Doom, more famously known as Doctor Doom.
After the grand unveiling at Marvel’s Comic-Con 2024 panel, he commented, “The old mask, but the job remains the same.” He enjoys taking on complex character roles.
It has been verified that Joe and Anthony Russo are set to return as directors for both “Avengers: Doomsday” and the upcoming sixth Avengers film titled “Avengers: Secret Wars”. Additionally, Robert Downey Jr.’s character is expected to portray Doctor Doom in these movies.
Characters from “The Fantastic Four,” “Captain America: New World Order,” and “Thunderbolts” will be featured in not just one, but two upcoming films.
Speaking of my recent appearance as Johnny Storm in Deadpool & Wolverine, I want to express my gratitude to Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Shawn Levy for making that cameo a reality. Thanks guys!
I’m grateful to Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Shawn Levy for allowing me to join this fantastic film! They are truly some of the kindest individuals you’d ever come across,” he shared on social media.
I’d like to extend a heartfelt appreciation to Ryan, who made everything possible. Reprising the role of Johnny felt like a cherished wish fulfilled, and he will forever hold a unique spot in my heart.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released in cinemas on May 1, 2026.
