Chris Evans and Jason Statham’s forgotten thriller is now on Netflix
Chris Evans and Jason Statham’s forgotten thriller Cellular has been released on Netflix.
2004’s film tells the story of a science educator (portrayed by Kim Basinger), who finds herself in the clutches of intruders at her home, but somehow manages to contact a random person for assistance.
But once the stranger is apprehended by the police, he discovers that the kidnappers turn out to be corrupt officers. As the story unfolds, both parties fight to stay alive.
If you didn’t catch the classic thriller when it first came out, or if you’d like to reminisce with a bit of nostalgia, Netflix made it available today for viewers in the UK and Ireland.
The film “Cellular” received a mix of positive and negative opinions from critics, currently holding a 56% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite this, it managed to amass more than $57 million in worldwide ticket sales.
Of course, both Statham and Evans have built impressive careers over time. Later on, Statham became a part of the Fast & Furious and Expendables series. In more recent times, he has been seen in the Meg films and The Beekeeper.
Statham and Evans have had remarkable careers, with Statham subsequently joining the Fast & Furious and Expendables franchises, and in recent years, starring in movies like Meg and The Beekeeper.
Previously, Evans secured the part of Captain America within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Recently, it has been disclosed that he will reprise this role for the upcoming film “Doomsday,” marking a return to Marvel Studios following a six-year absence since his exit in “Avengers: Endgame.
As for me, I’m not sure yet which character I’ll be playing next, whether it’s Steve Rogers, the torch-passing Captain America, Johnny Storm from last year’s Deadpool and Wolverine adventure, or someone else altogether. It’s all up in the air at the moment.
In the future, it’s announced that Robert Downey Jr will rejoin Marvel, portraying Doctor Doom, with the Russo brothers returning to helm the project.
Though Benedict Cumberbatch won’t reprise his role as Doctor Strange in the upcoming film, it has been confirmed that he will appear as the character in the sequel “Secret Wars”.
Cellular is streaming now on Netflix in the UK and Ireland.
