Chris Evans admits he 'doesn't remember' being at Oasis' legendary Knebworth gig 28 years ago as the iconic band prepare for reunion tour

As a child of the 90s, I was utterly flabbergasted and slightly envious when Chris Evans revealed his lack of recollection of attending the Oasis gig at Knebworth in 1996! It’s like finding out that Santa Claus doesn’t remember delivering presents or that the Tooth Fairy forgot to leave a coin under my pillow.

Chris Evans admitted that he can’t remember if he attended the groundbreaking Oasis concert at Knebworth in 1996.

Approximately 250,000 people attended the iconic band’s concert, yet during his Virgin Radio Breakfast Show on Wednesday, Chris confessed he can’t recall the performance in the slightest.

He said: ‘Honestly, this is a pinky promise… I genuinely can’t remember being there. And I’m not larging it.

People might comment, “Ah, that’s adorable. You must be saying that to maintain the classic image from the 90s,” but honestly, I don’t recall ever being in that situation.

It was unclear to me if we had gone or not, but now I realize we definitely did. However, the memory of it remains elusive, despite the presence of this photographic proof.

‘There’s loads of photographs of us there, but I can’t remember it.’

On Tuesday, the band from Manchester revealed their initial series of performances since 2009, which includes a total of 14 shows taking place in cities like London, Manchester, Cardiff, Dublin, and Edinburgh during the summer season of next year.

Chris confessed he only found out about Liam and Noel Gallagher’s reunion, which created quite a buzz, when he was invited to talk about his 90s memories on ITV’s This Morning program.

He continued: ‘The first I heard about it was via a text, and the text simply said, “This Morning want to know if you’re available to come on for a chat tomorrow re: the Oasis reunion,” and I just texted back “What?” because I didn’t know. I had no idea,’

The radio star has interviewed both the Gallagher brothers on numerous occasions over the years.

Chris said: ‘They were the perfect blend of fantastic, anthemic, profound, famous and infamous. They were so interesting, and they were so sort of knobbly compared to Blur.

Speaking of Blur, they were absolutely fantastic, and I must say I am a huge fan. However, the other story was more compelling. It had a raw, intense quality to it, didn’t it?

It turns out that Oasis received an unusually high number of submissions for the ballot of tickets to their reunion tour, which is quite uncommon.

Fans were informed by the band that they’ll get a confirmation email if they participated in the ballot, which went live yesterday.

On their site’s post about X, it said: ‘We understand that some of you haven’t received your confirmation emails yet. Be reassured, they will be sent soon since we’re handling an unusually high number of applications.’

As a diligent participant, I assure you that anyone who completes and submits their ballot form before 7pm British Summer Time, on this very day, Wednesday, August 28th, is guaranteed to receive an email. In this email, they will have the opportunity to confirm their entry in the ballot.

Following a staggering 690% rise in global Oasis song streams, as well as a notable surge in plays from the UK, the data shows an uptick.

There was a significant surge in the streaming of the less popular tracks and albums by the band, with standout songs like “The Shock Of The Lightning,” “Bag It Up,” and “Turn Up The Sun” experiencing particularly notable boosts.

Yesterday, Oasis announced via X: “The battle has ended. The planets are perfectly aligned. The long-awaited moment has arrived. Don’t miss out; it won’t be broadcast.” (This version maintains the original meaning while sounding more natural and easier to read.)

As a lifestyle expert, I can confidently say that, based on anticipation, we foresee an enormous wave of interest from fans, both domestically and internationally, for the upcoming tour. Undeniably, this event is poised to bring a substantial financial upsurge, estimated in millions of pounds, to the vibrant British hospitality industry next year.
