Chris Brown pleads not guilty in London nightclub assault case as U.K. court sets trial date

In simple terms, the Grammy-winning R&B artist Chris Brown has denied guilt for a single charge linked to an alleged assault on a music producer at a London club in 2023. He has pleaded not guilty.

36-year-old singer, known for his hit “Kiss Kiss”, stood before London’s Southwark Crown Court on Friday for his arraignment. He denied one charge of attempting to intentionally and harmfully inflict serious bodily harm. When asked about his plea regarding this charge, he replied, “Not guilty.

In February 2023, it’s alleged that Brown attacked music producer Amadou “Abe” Diaw with a tequila bottle at Tape London, a nightclub. These accusations mirror claims made in a lawsuit filed by Diaw against the musician in Los Angeles in October 2023. In this lawsuit, Diaw charges Brown for assault and battery, as well as intentional infliction of emotional distress. According to court documents, Diaw asserted that Brown viciously attacked him by striking his head repeatedly and continuing to mercilessly stomp on him after he collapsed on the nightclub floor following the bottle attack.
