Chisato Nishikigi Analysis – Should You Pull?

Overview

  • B3 SMG Iron Attacker unit with a big focus on True Damage.
  • Best True Damage DPS, though that on its own doesn’t mean she’s great.
  • Has higher than average Core Damage bonus, prefers hitting units with a core.
  • Mandatory to have Firing Adjust Option on when using her, the DPS loss is noticeable.
  • Frequency of True Damage gives her some use in Campaign Deficit, especially S2.

Should You Pull?

Chisato is a strong Iron-type damage dealer, but she isn’t always essential. There are already several good Iron DPS options available, and while she outperforms characters like Laplace, Julia, Red Hood, and Milk: Blooming Bunny, you might be able to achieve your desired progress in Solo Raids without her. However, if you’re aiming for the very highest scoring tiers, Chisato becomes a crucial asset.

When fully equipped and optimized, her damage output can rival top-performing units like EVE, Raven, and Blooming Bunny in the Shooting Range. This is impressive because the Shooting Range boss has very little defense, meaning her ability to bypass defenses (True Damage) isn’t fully tested there. Despite this, she can still achieve damage levels comparable to the best traditional damage dealers (DPS) in the game, including Red Hood.

Keep in mind that this character is only available for a limited time. After the Lycoris Recoil event is over, it’s uncertain if she’ll be offered again, so it’s a good idea to get at least one copy. Even just one copy is quite effective, and she’s expected to be a key asset in challenging Iron raids for a long time.

Newbie/Incomplete Box Section

Chisato is a powerful attacker who uses a submachine gun and significantly boosts her own stats. She primarily deals True Damage, which is particularly useful in campaign missions. In these missions, enemies often have lower stats, and if your team’s stats are much higher, regular damage can be reduced – even to zero. True Damage bypasses these reductions, making Chisato very effective when there’s a power difference.

She deals a lot of damage, particularly for a submachine gun character, making her a powerful damage dealer in raids and boss battles. Because she consistently boosts her own attack power, she doesn’t rely on teammates to do that for her, and generally needs less support than other damage-focused characters.

If you’re using this feature with a character, make sure the ‘Min Firing Adjustment’ setting is turned on, as described below.

Normal Attack Information

Her SMG functions similarly to most, holding 120 bullets and reloading in one second. However, it’s surprisingly powerful. Its damage output is quite high, placing it among the best SMGs when it comes to standard attacks.

Most SMG characters have base damage that changes by 8 to 10 percent. This character’s damage is slightly over 10 percent, making her normal attack damage higher than most other SMG characters.

Okay, so Chisato is seriously strong with her basic attacks. She does 250% core damage by default – most characters only do 200% – which means way more damage when hitting an enemy’s core. Plus, with the Hit Rate she gets from her Skill 1 and an extra Hit Rate bonus, she’s basically hitting everything consistently. I’m talking reliable damage against pretty much every normal enemy and even most bosses! It’s awesome.

Skill 1: Extrasensory

Okay, so this ability is a game-changer! As soon as a battle starts, it immediately begins charging up my Extrasensory power, constantly filling it to 100% and you can’t even stop it! Then, while Extrasensory is active, things get really interesting. The effect changes depending on how much Extrasensory I have charged, and any previous boosts keep happening over and over! If I’m at 100%, I become completely invincible for two seconds – dodging everything! Above 70% charge, my attack power gets a huge 53.69% boost that also can’t be removed. Above 55%, I deal an extra 48.62% true damage with every hit, which is amazing! And even above 25%, my hit rate goes up by 22.37%. The only downside is that every two seconds, my Extrasensory power decreases by 1%, so I need to manage it carefully, but honestly, the benefits far outweigh the cost!

When a battle starts, Chisato immediately fills her special ability meter. While it stays high enough, she gets several helpful boosts. The temporary invincibility she gains at the start isn’t very useful in player-versus-environment (PvE) battles, but it can be valuable when used with her Burst skill. Enemies often focus on the Nikke with the highest attack power, so this brief invulnerability lets Chisato avoid damage for a couple of seconds.

Chisato also significantly boosts her Attack, True Damage, and Hit Rate. These stats are all valuable: Attack and True Damage greatly improve her Skill 2 and damage output during her Burst, while Hit Rate is crucial for maximizing damage against enemies with Cores.

Because the Extrasensory meter depletes so slowly – only 1% every two seconds – all of Chisato’s buffs, except for Invulnerability, will essentially last the entire fight. It takes a full minute to lose just the Attack buff, meaning players won’t have to worry about Chisato losing any of her power-ups during normal gameplay. This consistent boost makes her very strong throughout the whole fight.

Skill 2: AP Rounds

Activates when using Burst Skill. Affects self.
Normal attacks deal True Damage for 10 sec.

This ability triggers after successfully hitting the enemy with 48 regular attacks. It deals significant damage – 472.18% of your final attack power – and bypasses the target’s defenses, meaning all of the damage is dealt directly.

When Chisato activates her Burst, her attacks bypass enemy defense, dealing full damage for the duration. This isn’t usually a big advantage in raids since most enemies don’t have low defense, but it’s very effective against raid bosses with unusually high defense. Generally, this ability is like getting a 20% boost to her attack power in typical scenarios.

Chisato’s main source of damage comes from a special effect that triggers every 48 shots, dealing significant true damage. With the Min Firing Adjustment skill active, this happens roughly every 2 seconds. Because of her large magazine and quick reload speed, Chisato can consistently deal high damage to single targets.

Submachine guns fire slower – 4 bullets per second slower – unless you turn on the ‘Min Firing Rounds Adjustment’ option. You’ll find this setting at the bottom of the Convenience menu under Settings > Battle.

Why does this happen?

The game engine restricts how quickly SMGs can fire. Even though the code is set to 24 bullets per second, the engine only allows a bullet to fire every 3 frames (at 60 frames per second) or every 2 frames (at 30 frames per second). This limits the actual firing rate to 20 or 15 bullets per second. Enabling this option forces the game to fire bullets at the intended rate by occasionally adding extra shots to compensate for the engine’s limitations.

Min Firing Rounds Adjustment: ON
Firing Rate: 24/s
S2 Frequency: Every 2s

Min Firing Rounds Adjustment: OFF
Firing Rate: 20/s
S2 Frequency: Every 2.4s (20% fewer activations)

Only the switch was adjusted; everything else remained the same. The impact would be more noticeable if Chisato had more ammunition options.

Burst: Emergency Charge

Cooldown: 40 seconds.

Affects self.
Charges Extrasensory to 100%
ATK ▲ 73.16% for 10 sec.

Chisato has a straightforward ability: she significantly boosts her attack power and quickly fills her special meter. This gives her temporary invincibility for two seconds and helps her keep her special meter full during battles.

Chisato’s ATK boost from her skill stacks with the boost from her Burst, meaning additional ATK buffs don’t increase her damage much. Instead, focus on boosting her true damage or providing other helpful effects. Because ATK buffs are rare on the units typically used in strong team compositions, Chisato can still benefit from a wide variety of support characters.

Campaign

Chisato focuses heavily on dealing damage to single targets in campaign mode. As an SMG, her special ability only hits one enemy at a time. Despite this limitation, she excels at damaging bosses thanks to her high single-target true damage with her Burst ability. When enemies have very low stats, especially later in the game, her skill combined with her true damage makes her one of the best characters for taking down bosses and tough individual enemies.

Chisato stands out from other damage dealers who rely on true damage because her regular attacks deal true damage during her Burst Time after using her Burst. This, combined with her ability to trigger effects, quickly eliminates weaker enemies and significantly damages bosses. Her Burst also grants her temporary invulnerability, making her more durable than many other characters for a short period. Because most enemies in the campaign have a core, Chisato naturally excels at dealing damage to them.

The best choice depends on your campaign’s biggest threat: large groups of powerful enemies, or a single, very strong boss. Ein, Vesti’s upgrade, or Ada are ideal for dealing with many high-priority targets, while Chisato excels at quickly eliminating bosses or a small number of powerful enemies.

Arena

Okay, so as a fan, I’m a little worried about how this SMG will do in Arena. It’s a single-target weapon and doesn’t really excel at burst damage, which is important in that mode. Plus, because of how Arena runs at 30 FPS, and if you don’t have that firing rate adjustment on, SMGs fire slower. This means her special ability, or ‘proc’, will only happen about every 3.2 seconds. That’s slow enough that a lot of other characters will be able to burst her down before it can trigger again, which isn’t ideal for PvP.

Let’s look at something interesting. This character begins each fight with 2 seconds of protection from damage. If she’s defeated and brought back to life, it’s like the fight restarts for her, fully recharging her special meter and giving her another 2 seconds of invulnerability with each revival. While this isn’t necessarily a game-winning strategy, it’s quite amusing.

Special Interception | Union Raid | Solo Raid

Chisato is expected to excel in battles, particularly against bosses. Her focused attacks are very effective against enemies with high defense, as she deals true damage that bypasses most defenses. However, unlike in the main story, raids don’t reduce her stats, which slightly lessens the impact of her true damage ability.

Okay, so even with everything changing in the game, Chisato is still a really solid Iron DPS character. She basically buffs herself a ton, keeps up consistent damage, and works amazingly well with characters who boost others. Because of that, I think she’s going to be a top pick for those Iron-weak Solo Raids for a long time. There’s a lot of competition for good Iron DPS, but Chisato’s damage is strong enough to replace some of the weaker options, even in situations where True Damage isn’t super effective. She’s just consistently good!

Ultra in Anomaly Intercept has very high defense, which increases as the boss fight goes on. Chisato is consistently a strong choice for dealing damage as an Iron DPS unit against Ultra, even though she can’t pierce armor. This is because her attacks deal true damage, which bypasses Ultra’s high defense. However, it’s still recommended to bring a unit that can pierce armor, or use Rapi: Red Hood to destroy the poison sacs, to make the fight easier.

Strengths

  • Very good gun. An SMG with innate hit rate, lots of ATK, 1s reload and higher than average base damage and core damage gives her great normal attacks.
  • Highest True Damage DPS potential in the game currently.
  • Incredible self-buffing gives her a degree of independence. Can work well with a lot of buffers, as long as they aren’t buffing ATK.
  • Has potential in campaign as a True Damage dealer.

Weaknesses

  • Way too single target, which hampers her potential in campaign.
  • True Damage isn’t as effective in content that lacks stat penalties.
  • Needs Hit Rate OLs to make her Core Damage more effective against more enemies.

Recommended Cubes

bastion cube,resilience cube

Both cube types are good choices for her. The Bastion cube is better for weapons with large magazines, like SMGs, while the Resilience cube is ideal for fast reloading. If Chisato is teamed with a unit that boosts reload speed, the Resilience cube becomes even more effective.

Doll Priority

Chisato relies heavily on normal attacks for damage, particularly when her Burst is active, making Doll equipment a top priority for her. She benefits greatly from SMG Dolls because they specifically increase normal attack damage. This significantly improves the damage of her already strong SMG, making each hit more powerful. The bonus also applies to the bullets fired during her Burst, which deal extra True Damage.

Expected Skill Priority

Nikke Budget Skill Investments Recommended Skill Investments Skill Priority Notes Investment Priority
Chisato Nishikigi Skill 1: 7

Skill 1: 7

S1 < S2 Skill 1 is where a lot of her self-buff power comes from. It is acceptable to leave it as 7, since the slightly lower True Damage self-buff can be compensated with the B2 unit being used.

Skill 2 is where her True Damage activation is at. More levels within makes a big difference as the fight progresses.

Burst is just a simple massive ATK stat buff. The ATK buff within Burst scales a bit better than the ATK buff on S1 so it has a slightly higher priority. It can be kept at 7 to save on resources.

Attribute (Sub-Stat) Priority Recommended Notes
Increase Element Damage Dealt ★★★★★ 4x Wanted for Union Raids and Solo Raid content.
Increase Hit Rate ★★★☆☆ 1 – 2x Since she has a higher than average innate core damage bonus and already has a Hit Rate buff from S1, it’s recommended to try to go for one more at most to ensure she can hit the core of more enemies.
Since more bosses nowadays are starting to have conditional cores or even no cores, if you are planning to use her strictly in raid content and not in campaign, you can skip out on Hit Rate OLs.
Increase Max Ammunition Capacity ★★★★☆ 1 – 2x More ammo is always nice; however, thanks to her fast reload speed, it’s not exactly a huge DPS loss if she lacks ammo lines, especially since allies can potentially make up for it.
Increase ATK ★★★★☆ 2 – 3x While it is a good DPS boost, the fact is, Chisato effectively has a permanent ATK buff equal to 3 – 4 black ATK OLs, reducing the effectiveness of more ATK OLs.
Increase Charge Damage ☆☆☆☆☆ 0x
Increase Charge Speed ☆☆☆☆☆ 0x
Increase Critical Rate ★★★★☆ 2 – 3x Thanks to how much ATK she gives herself all the time, if you end up with critical rate, it’s actually quite nice to keep.
Increase Critical Damage ★★☆☆☆ 1 – 2x While this naturally does make critical damage a good option too, critical damage falls off in setups where a higher crit rate can’t be secured, which is why critical rate has the priority.
Increase DEF ☆☆☆☆☆ 0x
