Chimney Will Lead the 118 to Bright Future After Bobby Nash’s Death
Following Bobby Nash‘s passing on the series ‘9-1-1’, the question that immediately arose was who would be the most suitable candidate to assume the captain role at the 118. While it appeared that Hen (played by Aisha Hinds) might be the logical choice, she recognized that she wasn’t the ideal candidate as her focus lay elsewhere. This position seemed destined for someone else, someone who had been in plain sight since the show’s inception.
In the final episode of 9-1-1 season 8, Chimney (Kenneth Choi) demonstrated his worth as a firefighter, proving he was the ideal candidate for the job following Bobby’s death. The upcoming season 9 will serve as a true test of his capabilities. Interestingly enough, although it wasn’t apparent at the time, there is an episode from season 2 that clearly illustrated why Chimney was the best fit to lead the 118 team after Bobby.
9-1-1 Season 2, Episode 12 Highlights How Truly Equipped Chimney Is In Stepping Into Bobby’s Shoes
He Has Gone Through This Pain Before And Came Out Stronger On The Other Side.
Amongst the standout episodes of 9-1-1, season 2’s twelfth episode, titled “Chimney Begins,” delves into Chimney’s backstory – detailing his rise to leadership in the fire department. This harrowing day saw Chimney losing his brother in a blaze they were battling together. Such grief could easily shatter anyone and prompt them to abandon their post, but Chimney chose to persevere because saving lives is his life’s purpose. He was well aware of the dangers and had witnessed numerous loved ones succumb to the job, yet he remained steadfast.
In this episode, we saw Chimney struggling deeply but determined to give his best at work despite his discomfort. He drew strength from the idea that his brother would have wanted him to keep pursuing a job he loved. This time, Chimney took a fresh look at the case and thought creatively. Unfortunately, Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.) seemed unapproachable, and Gerrard (Brian Thompson), his captain, was not receptive because Chimney was still relatively new to the team.
Despite the fact that Tommy had been unkind to him for quite some time, Chimney chose to bravely confront danger when he realized the situation was perilous in the building, saving Tommy from an impending explosion. His actions weren’t driven by thoughts about their past interactions but rather by his conviction that it was the morally correct choice. This selfless attitude is a defining characteristic of a true captain – someone who puts team loyalty above personal feelings and is ready to stand up for their comrades.
Why Chimney Is The Only Plausible Successor For Bobby In 9-1-1 Season 9
He Is The One Who Has Seen It All And Still Chooses To Keep Going
As a die-hard fan who’s seen every episode, I can confidently say that Chimney has been through the wringer throughout this series, but he refuses to back down. Being both a paramedic and a firefighter, Chimley brings a unique blend of skills to the table with his invaluable experience. Steering the 118 team now, I believe he’s going to bring a fresh take on our jobs, offering insights that haven’t been shared before. After such a heart-wrenching loss, Chimney is the breath of fresh air this crew needs. His training under Bobby and Gerrard has equipped him with the knowledge to be an exceptional leader.
Whenever a team member required aid or direction, Chimney was consistently available, even if there were disagreements. He’d always made clear that he’d go the extra mile for anyone in the 118, irrespective of his personal feelings. Following the loss of his brother and captain, he has taken it upon himself to ensure everyone’s safety. This kind of pain is something he wishes never to encounter again, and he intends to protect others from experiencing similar hardships, as portrayed in 9-1-1.
