Shikama expressed his gratitude for being part of the Pitti community since winning the Tokyo Fashion Award nearly eight years ago, stating it’s a pleasure to return and showcase his collection after five years, as this occasion played a significant role in expanding his list of business partners.

He noted that his clothing designs draw influence from the rich cultural tapestry he absorbed while residing in the Japanese port city of Yokohama during his upbringing. He strives to infuse each garment with the spirit of the culture, and aims to maintain this originality as a constant pursuit.

Francesca Tacconi, event coordinator at Pitti Immagine, stated, “For several seasons now, we’ve been closely monitoring Children of the Discordance, a brand that first caught our attention during Pitti Uomo some years back and was introduced through the Tokyo Fashion Award. We admire the innovative thought process of its creator, Hideaki Shikama, and his ability to seamlessly combine historical influences and the vibrant rhythm of street culture, all while maintaining a vision for future design.

Stay tuned for Children of the Discordance’s shwo at Pitti Uomo 108 on June 17.
