Child star Drake Bell fumes that he has been left struggling to pay rent while ‘some fat cat with a cigar’ ‘is ‘high on child labour’ due to strict Nickelodeon payment terms
Previously famous young actor Drake Bell has criticized the agreement conditions set by Nickelodeon, which he claims have put him in a tough financial situation where he’s finding it hard to cover his monthly rent expenses.
At age 39, the actor openly shared that contrary to the continued popularity of his series “Drake & Josh”, he doesn’t lead a lavish lifestyle as one might assume.
Apart from appearing on The Amanda Show on Nickelodeon, Drake disclosed that he only received one-time payments for his contributions and doesn’t get any ongoing royalties or residuals.
He told The Unplanned Podcast: ‘That’s the perception of the world, it’s always been this way.
As a devoted admirer, I might find myself thinking something along the lines of, “Wow, it seems you’ve starred in a Folgers Coffee advertisement! That must mean you reside in a grand mansion in Hollywood, right? With your face on the small screen, I can’t help but imagine your affluent lifestyle.
Contrary to popular belief, it’s quite different in reality. What’s unfortunate, though, is that, unlike many of us who worked on Nickelodeon shows, we don’t receive royalties or ongoing payments from them.

Drake said that had he been given a fair contract, he would still be benefiting from his work.
This means that by selling re-runs, he can continue receiving payments for his appearances in the re-broadcasts of popular shows where he is still a part of.
Many people still identify the star, having played a role in the Drake & Josh series from 2004 to 2007 alongside Josh Peck.
He pointed out that during the peak of ‘Friends’, each cast member was earning a million dollars per episode. If they made 13 episodes in a year, they would have earned 13 million dollars. Consequently, if they made 20 episodes in a year, their total earnings would be 20 million dollars.
Currently, each actor from the popular sitcom Friends earns more than $20 million annually solely through reruns, without needing to film a new episode each week.
Although their performances won’t lead to actual work results, they’re still putting on shows, utilizing their images, and making money from it.
They’re earning more than $20,000,000 annually due to other networks purchasing the rights for rebroadcasting.
Previously known for their roles in childhood stardom, this individual – who alleges they were victimized by sexual abuse during filming – expresses their present monetary struggles as a consequence of alleged malicious actions by others.

‘There are many wicked, unscrupulous individuals. This, I believe, is the root cause. There isn’t any other explanation.’
Translate the action they take on us mentally and emotionally, and then leave us in a difficult situation. And we respond, “Alright, that’s fine. I have my rent sorted for this month. Three channels are airing marathons.”
They make us feel anxious and vulnerable mentally and emotionally, but when it comes to challenging circumstances, they abandon us. Yet, we manage to stay calm because we have our monthly rent covered, and there’s plenty of TV shows to keep us entertained.
Netflix has recently acquired it, and it’s currently one of the most popular shows on their platform. However, I’m struggling to find a way to cover my monthly rent.
A wealthy individual, perhaps puffing on a cigar, perched at the summit of Viacom seems to chuckle to himself. This situation can be likened to deriving pleasure from unethical practices such as exploitation of child labor. What would one term it? It’s quite similar to experiencing euphoria due to unscrupulous means.
Many individuals fail to grasp the inner workings of a business, specifically the financial aspect. Instead, they focus on the image portrayed through platforms like Instagram and social media, which often showcases the flashy aspects and glamorous lifestyle associated with Hollywood.
We’re pouring a lot of effort into our tasks here. It seems this company is raking in billions, yet we’re only getting paid for our standard workweek, which is fine, but that’s where it ends.
In the agreement, it is explicitly stated that this condition holds true not just for our current universe, but also for all other cosmic entities such as galaxies and planets, for an infinite duration.
