On Wednesday, Deadline announced that a well-known fast-food chain is planning to debut a streaming platform along with an assortment of original content, such as a family-friendly game show.
The Atlanta-based company is collaborating with significant film studios and is negotiating deals for licensing and purchasing content, as per recent reports from Deadline.
Anonymous sources have indicated to Deadline that the streaming service might debut this year, offering unscripted television content including game shows and reality programs. It appears that production companies Glassman Media and Sugar23, known for hits like “The Wall” on NBC and “13 Reasons Why” on Netflix, are developing a new game show for this upcoming platform.
Chick-fil-A and the production companies did not respond to requests for comment from The Times.
It’s said that Brian Gibson, who has contributed to History’s revamp of “Top Gear” and Fox’s adaptation of “The X Factor,” is apparently spearheading Chick-fil-A’s content creation and is engaged in discussions with various producers.
As a film enthusiast, it’s fascinating to note that even beyond the realm of entertainment, companies like Chick-fil-A are stepping into the world of content creation. With over 3,000 restaurants across the nation, they’re not newbies in the industry, but this would mark their first foray into creating original content. Interestingly, Lyft preceded them with the launch of their game show “Lucky Lyft” back in 2023, and Airbnb made a splash by producing a documentary that was aired on MTV.
The latest news about Chick-fil-A’s business development arrives at a moment when the entertainment sector is grappling with uncertainty, as studios are reducing production in an attempt to find lucrative models for their streaming platforms. Interestingly, even unscripted TV, which traditionally has been resilient against industry downturns affecting scripted TV, is now experiencing a significant impact due to the same market pressures.
