Chevy Chase Calls Out SNL For Leaving Him Out Of 50th Anniversary: “Somebody Made A Mistake”

Chevy Chase has publicly criticized Saturday Night Live after not being included in the show’s recent 50th anniversary celebration.

I’m really looking forward to the new CNN Films documentary, I’m Chevy Chase and You’re Not. From what I’ve heard, Chevy Chase talks about how much it bothered him that he wasn’t included in the special celebrating the 50th anniversary of Saturday Night Live. It sounds like he was genuinely hurt by it, and I’m curious to hear his side of the story.

Honestly, it really bothered me. I’ve never really talked about this before, but I was expecting to be included on stage with the other performers. When Garrett Morris and Laraine Newman went up there, I wondered why I wasn’t asked to join them. I felt left out and didn’t understand why.

Why was Bill Murray there and why was I not? I don’t have an answer for that.

I briefly mentioned this to Lorne in a text message, but then quickly retracted it, jokingly calling it ‘silly.’ However, it wasn’t really a joke – a real error was made. Someone should have included me in the performance, and it genuinely bothered me when they didn’t.

More to come…
