As I delve into the captivating journey of Robbie Williams, a British pop icon who rose to fame with Take That and then conquered the world as a solo artist, I find myself utterly intrigued by his resilience and ability to transform adversity into art. His life story is a testament to the power of self-expression, personal growth, and the unyielding human spirit.

Chesney Hawkes criticized Philip Schofield, labeling him as a “jerk” following a harsh joke that left the musician with emotional scars.

In 1991, the song “The One And Only” by the star who was 53 years old topped the charts, and as he basked in the glory of his fame, some within the music industry aimed to undermine him.

The musician shared with the Mirror that, quite unexpectedly, he found himself under the limelight when he was still very young.

Moreover, Chesney admitted that he faced challenges, particularly following the time when the previous host of This Morning showed animosity towards him.

Initially, he explained that the star was quite helpful, but later, during a live broadcast, the star made an unkind jest directed at him.

He said: ‘At first, Phillip was one of the first people who was very nice to me.

Back then, we participated in programs such as Live and Kicking and Radio 1 roadshows. Suddenly, it seemed, they began to oppose me.

1991 saw an event unfold at the Smash Hits’ Poll Winners’ Party, during which Philip participated in a humorous skit. In this act, he shoved Chesney into a blazing furnace using a pitchfork.

He said: ‘Phillip Schofield…B*****d. I remember he once did a (jokey) sketch at [these] awards in 1991 where he pushed me into Hell with a pitchfork. I remember that moment as I was only a kid, I was 19.

I recall the event vividly. That year, I watched the show alongside my parents at home, and something truly unsettling happened: Phillip shoved me towards what seemed like the gates of Hell using a pitchfork. To make matters worse, they had an actor dressed up as me, complete with a blonde wig and a mole, which was really unpleasant.

Apart from a previous morning show host, even Piers Morgan, the ex-host of Good Morning Britain, voiced criticism. He was particularly vocal about the controversial song that stirred up the music world.

During a period when grunge was gaining popularity, Chesney’s song remained number one on the charts for a stretch of five continuous weeks.

And seemingly not everyone was pleased for Chesney’s success but he made sure to get his own back.

In response to your question, “During that period, Piers Morgan criticized me as well. However, my father once spilled a pint of beer over him at the Ivor Novello awards held in London back in 1992.

But the singer has said it’s an experience that profoundly affected him.

He mentioned that those instances were particularly challenging for him. He felt compelled to suppress them and consider them as if they were simply rolling off a duck’s back.

Initially, I had an idea to compose a few tunes and continue with my work. However, as time passed, I realized that the compositions weren’t up to par and they were not suitable for release.

And Chesney isn’t just opening up about his younger years.

The artist appears more at ease with himself than ever before and just recently filmed the video for his return single titled “Get A Hold of Yourself,” marking his first new music since his debut single was released 33 years ago. Remarkably, he chose to film it entirely in the nude as a tribute to Emerald Fennell’s timeless masterpiece, Saltburn.

Instead of keeping his clothes on as suggested by his manager, the father of three, Chesney, delightfully enacted a reprise of Barry Keoghan’s renowned naked dance scene from the movie, entirely enjoying himself in the process.

Chesney shared with a media outlet that he shot his latest music video at Arley Hall, located in Cheshire – the very site used for the popular series, Peaky Blinders.

Although he usually found the candid nudity scenes appealing, there was an occasion when someone peering into the stately home caught him unclothed through a window. This incident made him feel embarrassed and request that the drapes be drawn during filming.

Chesney chose to bare all, symbolizing that he wouldn’t let others’ criticisms define him anymore. He clarified that the essence of his new track revolves around the concept of self-expression and growing more confident in oneself as one matures.

Speaking enthusiastically as a devoted fan, I exclaimed: “Just like the empowering hit ‘The One and Only,’ it serves to maintain balance for one’s mental wellbeing.

Chesney expressed delight that his spouse Kristina, along with their sons Casey (age 23), Indiana (age 18), and daughter Jesse (age 21) approved of his choice. However, he mentioned that it took them by surprise when they encountered him in a state of undress.

However, the star expressed that he was unfazed by the situation and eager to experience freedom, as well as challenge himself beyond his usual comforts.

Due to their awkwardness, Chesney is grateful that his family played a role in the creation of his upcoming album, “Living Arrows” – which marks his first release in more than ten years.

The album will be released at the end of February and is full of songs inspired by his children.

And Chesney is already chomping at the bit and wants ot get back onstage after decades of anxiety about performing under his own name.

He explained that after the release of his first single, his career was blighted by the song, which he described as ‘an albatross’.

However, contrasting the 1990s where Chesney found it difficult to perform before an audience, he has now gathered the courage and prepared himself for a tour.

And throughout it all he has had the support of his wife Kristina, who he married in 1997.

In praise of her, Chesney stated: ‘I believe I turned out to be a well-rounded adult, largely due to my partner. Our paths crossed at an opportune moment. I was 22 when I encountered her towards the end of my wild phase. We fell in love and she didn’t know much about me then.’

‘Our encounter happened at just the right moment in my life. She provided me with a reason to keep going. Regrettably, I found myself entangled in substance abuse and alcoholism, trying to hide it all. However, when she entered my life, she pulled me out of that situation. Without her, my path would have been drastically different.’

Regarding his past encounters, the performer expressed that he would not alter any of those events. He further stated that his journey in the music world has been humbling. To add to this, he remarked that he can still strap a guitar on his back and continue earning a living.
