Cheryl Hines expressed her sadness and paid tribute to director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer, after they were tragically found dead at their home on Sunday night.
The 60-year-old actress from Curb Your Enthusiasm expressed her deep sadness over the loss, remembering a time when she worked as an assistant for the couple. She fondly recalled their kindness and sense of humor.
Kerry Kennedy Hines shared a heartbreaking message on Instagram Sunday, mourning the loss of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner. She posted a photo of herself with the couple alongside the announcement.
Oh my gosh, it feels like a lifetime ago, but it has been 31 years! I started working for them as an assistant, and honestly, I was completely smitten from day one. They were just… incredible. So generous, always making me laugh, and seriously, they inspired me in every way. I was instantly hooked!
I’ll always remember the positive impact they had on so many people and how they made the world a better place. That’s what truly matters.
The photo showed Reiner with his arms around Cheryl and his wife, who were smiling at the camera.

Reiner, 78, and Michele, 70, were found dead at their $13.5 million Brentwood mansion on Sunday.
People magazine reports that the couple’s 28-year-old daughter, Romy, who lives nearby, discovered the unsettling scene at their large six-bedroom home.
The couple’s son, Nick Reiner, 32, was arrested on suspicion of murdering his parents.
Los Angeles police stated on Monday that Nick is considered responsible for the deaths of his parents, who died as a result of his struggles with addiction.
Police suspect a couple found dead Sunday night suffered from severe stab wounds and had their throats cut, though officials haven’t released many details about the killings, according to a source who spoke with the Associated Press.
Okay, so Tracy Reiner – you guys, she’s Rob Reiner’s daughter, the one he adopted with Penny Marshall! – finally spoke out about this awful double murder on Monday. I’ve been waiting for her to say something, and it’s just… heartbreaking. I’m so glad she’s sharing her thoughts, even though it must be incredibly difficult.
The 61-year-old actress said she was heartbroken by the news, especially because she had seen her father just the day before his death.
Tracy, speaking with NBC News, described her family as ‘the greatest ever’ and said she was stunned and didn’t know how to react.
Around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Los Angeles police went to a home after the fire department received a call for medical help.
First responders found both victims deceased at the scene, according to People.

Later that day, officials told reporters that police were questioning a relative of the individual, according to the Los Angeles Times.
When Nick was arrested, his sister, Romy, who found their parents deceased, informed investigators that she believed he was a possible suspect, describing him as a dangerous person.
Nick once shared on a podcast that he severely damaged his family’s guest house while under the influence of methamphetamine. He explained that he was ‘totally spun out’ on drugs – likely cocaine and something else – and hadn’t slept for days, leading him to destroy appliances by punching them.
A spokesperson for the Reiner family has confirmed the deaths of Michele and Rob Reiner. They stated the family is deeply saddened by this tragic loss and asks for privacy as they grieve.
According to a neighbor who spoke with ABC7, Larry David and Billy Crystal – both stars of the classic movie When Harry Met Sally – visited the location where the incident occurred, each at a different time. The neighbor said Billy Crystal appeared very upset and looked as if he might cry before leaving.
Reiner was married to Penny Marshall from 1971 to 1981, during which time he adopted Tracy.
After meeting Singer on the 1989 set of When Harry Met Sally, Reiner married her later that year.
The couple shared three children: Jake, 34, Nick, and Romy.
Tributes have poured in from across politics, Hollywood and beyond.

They’re really focusing on being there for Rob’s children and the whole family right now, and it’s clear they’re all deeply affected.

I was so saddened to hear about this, and James Woods, who I loved in Ghosts of Mississippi, put it perfectly. He said that even though he and the person involved had different political views, it never affected their affection and respect for one another. He’s absolutely devastated, and honestly, so am I. It’s just a terrible loss.
Elijah Wood described himself as ‘horrified’ by the news and sent love to the family.

Rob Reiner, son of comedy icon Carl Reiner and actress Estelle Reiner, started his career as an actor. He became widely known for playing Mike ‘Meathead’ Stivic on the TV show All in the Family, a role that earned him two Emmy Awards, and later became a highly respected director in Hollywood.
Though he acted in movies like Sleepless in Seattle, The First Wives Club, Primary Colors, and The Wolf of Wall Street, Rob Reiner was most famous as a director.
He started directing with the 1984 film This Is Spinal Tap, and went on to direct several other popular movies, including Stand by Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, Misery, and A Few Good Men. A Few Good Men received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture.
Oh my gosh, his movies! After directing so many classics, he made The American President, and then And So It Goes, and even Shock and Awe! But honestly, the best thing? He came back to Spinal Tap! Spinal Tap II: The End Continues just came out, and it’s everything I hoped for – a perfect return to what made him amazing in the first place. I’ve seen it like, five times already!
