Cher Lloyd Opens Up About Terrifying Postnatal Depression: ‘I Saw Cars Driving Into My Baby’

In the year 2023, Cher Lloyd shared that she experienced postpartum depression following the birth of her second child, a little girl named Eliza.

31-year-old vocalist disclosed experiencing vivid images of vehicles crashing into her infant while strolling on the sidewalk, and described being tormented by insomnia and loss of appetite as she shared her personal battles publicly for the first time.

On Paul Brunson’s “We Need To Talk” podcast, I openly shared my personal struggle with postnatal depression, a battle that shook me to my very essence. This experience has even led me to ponder the possibility of not having more children in the future.

After the birth of my youngest child, Eliza, I had previously come across the term ‘postnatal depression,’ but its implications weren’t clear to me until then.

What transpired for me was a profound sense of isolation, coupled with self-doubt in all my actions and an unshakable terror that something would befall my child. This situation took a heavy toll on my psychological well-being.

For a stretch, I experienced constant tremors, persistent feelings of illness, struggled with insomnia, and found it hard to eat. The period was intended to be joyful, but instead, it turned out to be the most challenging phase in my life.

It’s hard to comprehend how I managed to endure those tough times; they were truly dreadful. There were instances when I was strolling with my infant on the sidewalk, and suddenly, terrifying images would flash in my mind of vehicles colliding into her – seemingly appearing out of thin air.

After experiencing postnatal depression, it left a deep impact on me, making me question if I could bear another pregnancy, as I don’t wish to face such an ordeal once more.

Instead of saying “Cher went onto share that it ‘took her a very long time’ to pluck up the courage to seek help from her GP,” you could rephrase it as “Cher explained that it required a considerable amount of time before she mustered the strength to consult her doctor.” And instead of “now she’s in a ‘much better mental state’,” you could say “now, she’s feeling significantly improved mentally.

‘It made me feel like I dnd’t want to leave the house, I didn’t know who I was anymore,’ she added.

‘In that moment, I felt utterly overwhelmed, and when you inquired about what I felt proud of, I mentioned being a mother. Despite the fact that it was undeniably the most challenging phase of my life, my children were always secure under my care. I prioritized their safety above all else, even though it significantly impacted my mental health. Looking back, I believe the only way to escape from that dark period was when I once needed a break after giving birth. The pressure to return to normalcy immediately, which I think is absurd, made me put too much strain on myself. It’s important for everyone to understand that women do not need to snap back after pregnancy.’

2013 saw me tying the knot with my beloved partner of under two years, Craig Monk. We’re more than just husband and wife; we’re proud parents to our adorable six-year-old, Delilah-Rae. The joy she brings into our lives is immeasurable!

In the interview, the celebrity likewise shared insights into her experience on The X Factor, expressing criticisms towards the management and acknowledging that she was portrayed as the antagonist on the series.

Initially, the singer gained popularity when they competed on ITV’s show in 2010. Impressing both the judges and the audience led them to sign a contract with Simon Cowell’s record label, Syco.

After a period of three years, Cher decided to depart following the disclosure that there were creative differences between her and Simon, who was then 65. The main issue was Cher felt uncomfortable with the amount of control he exerted over her career trajectory.

As a die-hard admirer, I can tell you that the radiant star admitted she was portrayed as the antagonist by higher-ups because she fiercely defended herself against unwarranted criticism when she graced The X Factor stage.

During a discussion about the show’s care provisions back then, Cher further explained that at only sixteen years old, she was given antidepressants while participating in the program.

Earlier this month, Cher excited her followers with news that she intends to unveil fresh tunes, marking more than ten years since her last album hit the shelves.

On Instagram, Cher posted a beautiful selfie and captioned it: “Happy New Year! I believe it’s high time for some fresh tunes… this isn’t a joke!

In 2011, Cher, who had gained recognition through “The X Factor” in 2010, put out her first album titled “Sticks And Stones.” This album included her chart-topping hit song “Swagger Jagger.

In the year 2014, she unveiled her second studio production titled “Sorry I’m Late,” which peaked at position 21 on the UK Albums Chart.

Fans expressed their immense excitement at the prospect of Cher releasing new music, saying something along the lines of: “We can’t contain our enthusiasm!
