Chelsea Handler: Why She Stopped Posting Topless Photos
Chelsea Handler, known for posting topless photos on social media without hesitation, has had her signature provocative posts halted following a family intervention.
Instead of regularly recreating the topless skiing tradition for her birthday photos, the comedian opted to wear a bikini top when she turned 50 in February, dressing quite warmly compared to her past habits.
On last Friday’s episode of What A Joke featuring Papa and Fortune, Chelsea was questioned as to why viewers are no longer privy to glimpses of her uncovered upper torso.
so as not to have limitations imposed upon her by her own offspring.
She shared that her college friends were discussing her, and she jokingly responded, “Fantastic! I’m significant to college students. Wow, just what I always wanted. Couldn’t ask for anything better!
After pondering, I realized that I didn’t want to embarrass them. Put simply, I didn’t want to make a spectacle or become the subject of laughter.
In her memoir “I’ll Have What She’s Having,” released in February, Chelsea recounted an instance from her past where a renowned actress scolded her. This is followed by the tea that was spilled being topless in nature.
One day, I received an email from Jane Fonda, and it read: “Hello, Chelsea. This is Jane. I have a request – would you be able to drop by my place for dinner? I’d like us to discuss a few topics together.” (She mentioned this in her memoir.)
Handler mentioned that the email appeared ‘foreboding,’ and went on to say that she had a long-standing friendship with Fonda.
Since they had been friends for at least a decade by then, Handler found the email from her friend rather brief and curt.
She remembered having consented and mentioned that she chose not to drink so she could “stay completely aware during my defense.
In her memoir, she expressed that Jane appeared somewhat aloof, and she grew apprehensive about determining precisely where she may have gone wrong.
She recalled Fonda asking her if she knew why she asked her to come over.
She reminded me that I seemed rather cold towards her when we encountered each other at Shonda Rhimes’ charity event for Congressman John Lewis, which she mentioned I might have noticed.
‘”You behaved badly at my party,”‘ the actress had told her.
As soon as you arrived, there was an unsettling atmosphere around you, and you made disrespectful remarks that significantly dampened the mood of the gathering.
‘”I don’t know what drugs you were on, but a few people told me you were horrible to them.”‘
The handler stated that Fonda questioned her about attending the party given her apparent mood, and admitted that being confronted by her friend was as severe as it could get.
Handler added: ‘This was definitely not the woman I had dreamed of becoming.’
She found the wake-up call from Fonda to be both embarrassing and painful, not to mention cringe-worthy, but she emphasized that it didn’t stop her from appreciating the fact that Jane had made the effort to be straightforward and candid with her.
