While hosting the Critics Choice Awards for the fourth year in a row on Sunday, Chelsea Handler paid tribute to both the late filmmaker Rob Reiner and, with a stylish mention, the actress Diane Keaton.
The comedian, who is turning 51 next month, wore a black pantsuit with a white blouse and black tie – a look inspired by a similar outfit worn by a well-known fashion icon at the Golden Globes in 2014.
Onstage at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Handler explained that her outfit was inspired by Diane Keaton, whom she also felt deserved recognition that evening.
‘[She’s] somebody who made a big contribution to all of us and all the people in the room here.’
Like the iconic Katharine Hepburn before her, Diane Keaton (born Hall) helped pave the way for women to confidently wear traditionally masculine clothing. She first gained attention for this style during her Oscar-winning role in the 1977 Woody Allen film, Annie Hall.
While getting ready in a beautiful dress, stylist Molly Levin shared that her client, the singer from The Feeling, isn’t a fan of diamonds. Levin joked that it’s always a challenge to get her to wear flashy jewelry.

‘It’s true. I find it to be a bit much,’ Handler agreed.
‘But, you know what? I am willing to make an exception because I’m a little princess!’
The author of ‘I’ll Have What She’s Having’ posted some candid photos of herself with other celebrities who were also wearing similar outfits, including Jeff Goldblum from ‘Wicked: For Good’.
In her opening remarks, Chelsea Handler playfully criticized several celebrities, including Leonardo DiCaprio for vacationing with Jeff Bezos on a yacht, Kevin Costner’s behavior on the set of ‘Yellowstone,’ and Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav, whom she jokingly referred to as a ‘vampire.’
Comedian Chelsea Handler, originally from New Jersey, will be performing at The Chelsea inside The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on January 31st as part of her ongoing residency there.
Following that, Handler will begin her 30-city High and Mighty Tour on February 13th at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C.
Last month, Keaton received recognition from two of her former co-stars: Sarah Paulson, who starred with her in The Other Sister, at the All’s Fair LA premiere, and Goldie Hawn, her co-star in First Wives Club, at the Women in Entertainment Gala.
It’s with a heavy heart I share the news of a beloved actress. After a period of illness, she sadly passed away on October 11th from pneumonia. Her family has since held a private cremation, three days after her passing. She was a truly gifted performer, and a two-time Golden Globe winner – she will be deeply missed.
Katherine Hepburn Keaton reportedly left behind a $100 million estate. She is remembered by her two adopted children, daughter Dexter, age 29, and son Duke, age 25, whom she welcomed into her family in 1996 and 2001.

The singer known as First Christmas shared a cheerful photo with her Golden Retriever, Reggie, on Instagram. It was her last post, shared on April 11th for National Pet Day.
Keaton hadn’t been seen in public since April 2024, when she attended a glamorous event hosted by Thom Browne at Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills.
Diane Keaton’s last role as an actress was in the 2024 comedy Summer Camp, alongside Kathy Bates and Alfre Woodard. The film wasn’t successful, earning just $2.5 million and failing to connect with audiences.
Diane Keaton appeared in eight films directed by Woody Allen, but she initially became well-known for her role as Kay Adams, the second wife of Michael Corleone (played by Al Pacino), in The Godfather movies, which were released between 1972 and 1990.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, the actor often worked with writer and director Nancy Meyers on films like Baby Boom (1987), the Father of the Bride movies (1991-2020), and Something’s Gotta Give (2003).
In 2007, Film at Lincoln Center honored Keaton with a tribute to her career, and in 2017, she received the AFI Life Achievement Award.
