Check out the first poster for Invincible season 3!
As a movie critic with over three decades of experience, I’ve seen my fair share of superhero shows, but none have captivated me like the rollercoaster ride that is Invincible. The first two seasons have been nothing short of extraordinary, and the upcoming third season promises to be even more thrilling.
The initial two seasons of “Invincible”, derived from the comic book series by Robert Kirkman, have been completed and they are simply amazing to watch. I’ve enjoyed every moment as we follow Mark Grayson’s (Steven Yeun) journey from an ordinary teenager with a superhero dad to Earth’s ultimate protector, battling his superhero father and the oppressive allies he left behind on Viltrim. Interestingly, Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons), Mark’s father, has recently shown signs of a change in heart. This series is packed with plenty of action!
The main drawback of “Invincible” is the extended wait between episode releases, particularly with the second season having an unusual release pattern, where the initial four episodes were aired in 2023, followed by the remaining episodes months later. However, Kirkman and his team have assured us that future seasons won’t be released this way, and we can expect season 3 to start strongly without any delays. Excitingly, Amazon recently unveiled the first promotional poster for season 3.
In this scenario, we find Mark confronting a battered and wounded Cecil Stedman (Walton Goggins), a government official who will go to great lengths to safeguard Earth from its adversaries, regardless of their questionable morality. Despite being allies, Mark has been infuriated on multiple occasions due to some ethically questionable actions by Cecil, so it’s not surprising to see him agitated once more.
In the initial trailer for season 3 of Invincible, both Cecil and Mark made an appearance, suggesting they may play significant roles in the forthcoming episodes.
Despite their disagreements, Mark and Cecil unite in their dedication to preserving Earth from the impending threat of the powerful Viltrumite empire. This theme is likely to be a significant aspect of Season 3. The new episodes kick off on Amazon Prime Video this Thursday, February 6th. There are eight episodes in total, and unlike previous seasons, there won’t be any mid-season break. Additionally, we can anticipate learning more about Season 3 this weekend at the CCXP Comic Con in Brazil.
