Check out beautiful new House of the Dragon promo photos from season 2
As a devoted fan with a heart full of Westeros, I eagerly anticipate every glimpse into this magical realm that has consumed my imagination for years. The latest promotional images for House of the Dragon season 2 have only heightened my excitement and dread, as we witness our beloved characters grapple with the impending civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons.
Before the debut of House of the Dragon season 2, HBO unveiled several striking promotional photos depicting the characters, each embodying sorrow and distress, fitting since they were on the brink of a fierce civil war called the Dance of the Dragons. This conflict is illustrated in intense posters such as this one featuring Rhaenyra Targaryen with a pale and tormented expression.
HBO unveiled these stunning photos under the slogan “Each Must Decide.” Now, eagle-eyed fans have discovered that photographer James Minchin has shared additional images, seemingly from the same collection, and they are truly breathtaking. Take a look at Emma D’Arcy portraying Rhaenyra – simply mesmerizing!

Instead of spread across the web, we invite you to visit Minchin’s site to see the complete collection of images, featuring Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen, Phoebe Campbell as Rhaena Targaryen, Harry Collett as Jacaerys Velaryon, Sonoya Mizuno as Mysaria, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, Tom Glynn-Carney as Aegon Targaryen, Ewan Mitchell as Aemond Targaryen, Phia Saban as Helaena Targaryen, Steve Toussaint as Corlys Velaryon, Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower, Fabien Frankel as Criston Cole, Matthew Needham as Larys Strong, and additional images of Emma D’Arcy portraying Rhaenyra.
As a fervent fan, I’ve noticed some fresh takes on the initial posters featuring Rhaenyra and Alicent, originally taglined as “Fire to Fire” and “Blood to Blood. These new versions instead read “Bound by Blood” and “Divided by Fire.” It seems they’re experimenting with the Targaryen motto of “Fire and Blood” in creative ways.
It’s going to be a while before you spot posters for “House of the Dragon” season 3; production is expected to begin early next year, but due to the complexity of creating a show with dragons and the time it takes, we probably won’t see new episodes until around 2026. In the interim, however, a fresh prequel series titled “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” from the Game of Thrones universe is set to debut on HBO and Max in 2025.
