Charlotte Church admits to yet more grubby habits after revealing she has stopped wearing deodorant and ‘generally stinks’

Okay, so I was really surprised to hear Charlotte Church say this, but she apparently doesn’t use deodorant anymore! She basically admitted she ‘generally stinks’ now, which is… a choice, honestly. It’s definitely a bold move and got everyone talking, but I admire her for just being herself and not worrying about societal norms, I guess!

Yet that isn’t the only bad habit Charlotte, 39, has admitted to in recent years.

In a 2022 interview with The Guardian, the singer known as Voice Of An Angel was asked what she considered her worst habit.

I do it without a care in the world – sometimes I even enjoy it! It’s about being honest with yourself and owning those little quirks.

During the conversation, she jokingly admitted to swearing a lot, saying her most-used words are ‘fk’ and ‘lush.’ She also confessed that her biggest weakness is putting things off.

Charlotte recently shared some personal struggles, revealing some bad habits she’s been working on during a conversation on the Walking The Dog podcast.

Charlotte was walking with Emily Dean when she was surprised to receive a compliment from her on her pleasant scent.

‘Do I? That’s surprising. I never smell nice,’ she replied.

Charlotte explained that she doesn’t use deodorant and rarely shaves, admitting she often doesn’t smell fresh.

I stopped shaving around a year and a half ago, possibly even two years. I also stopped using deodorant. I just started to wonder, why bother?

There are a lot of sensitive nerves and lymph nodes in the underarm area, and I’m hesitant to put chemicals directly onto the skin through its pores. After all, skin is the body’s largest organ, and it’s important to be careful about what we put on it.

You know, everyone should really just do what makes them happy. Seriously! If you want to change up your look – go for it! Dye your hair, shave it off, whatever feels good – absolutely! But personally, I’m just not feeling it for myself right now. It’s all about honoring what you want, and for me, that means keeping things as they are.

I really enjoy the contrast – it’s something I love about my style. I like pairing feminine things like dresses and heels with a more unexpected look, like having visibly hairy legs. It seems to throw people off, and I find that amusing.

Charlotte explained that she often wears revealing dresses because she finds it empowering and feels more confident and attractive. She described it as a liberating experience.

She explained that she often exposes her breasts as a way to quickly identify inappropriate behavior. She jokingly calls it the ‘Titmus Test,’ after a comment from her husband, because it immediately separates respectful people from those who are disrespectful.

Honestly, just seeing their reaction is everything! It’s like, people either can’t handle looking at me, which is hilarious, or it quickly weeds out anyone super stuck in their ways or really, really religious. It’s a perfect filter, you know? I live for those reactions!

It’s not about judging anyone or thinking it’s wrong, but showing some cleavage actually helps me feel more confident and aware. It’s incredibly freeing, and honestly, it makes me feel much more attractive.

Last October, the Daily Mail reported that Charlotte was practicing witchcraft at her retreat, offering what she described as ancient knowledge and the power of natural forces.

Charlotte currently leads a variety of spiritual retreats and workshops throughout the year.

Charlotte has focused on making the retreat successful, temporarily pausing her music career. However, it hasn’t been easy, and the retreat has unfortunately lost money each year.

The latest financial reports show that The Dreaming Ltd’s debts have increased to £811,626, rising from £707,550 in 2024.

It’s clear Charlotte is committed to making this work, with records showing that companies linked to her music and media ventures have invested £610,149.

Charlotte Church Ltd is owed £516,563 and Chick Flicks Ltd £93,586.

Charlotte had a very successful singing career, earning an estimated £25 million. Although she admitted last year to having spent a significant portion of her earnings – stating she was ‘no longer a millionaire’ – she still has considerable savings. This has allowed her to adjust to a more modest lifestyle, moving from a large mansion to a semi-detached house.

Yet latest accounts for Charlotte Church Ltd reveal it has a very healthy £3,099,848 in reserves.

Charlotte runs her retreat with the help of volunteers. She provides them with a place to stay and meals in exchange for their assistance.
