Charlie Sheen Worked With Chuck Lorre, But Did Not Hold Back His Feelings About ‘Piece Of S—‘ The Big Bang Theory

Charlie Sheen’s career has been full of highly publicized successes and struggles, many of which happened while he was starring in Two and a Half Men. The show, created by Chuck Lorre, made Sheen a huge star and the highest-paid actor on TV. However, he was fired during the eighth season and had a very public and heated conflict with Lorre, though the two later worked together again in 2023. At one point, Lorre’s other hit sitcom, The Big Bang Theory, became the focus of Sheen’s frustration.

Honestly, it really bothers me that my show helped launch so many others without me getting any benefit. I really should have insisted on a contract clause where I’d get a cut if another show used my popularity to get started. And I have to be honest, I just don’t think ‘The Big Bang Theory’ is a good show. It’s just… not funny, and the characters aren’t relatable at all.

Throughout the twelve seasons of The Big Bang Theory (2007-2019), Charlie Sheen appeared in several shows. He starred in Two and a Half Men from 2003 to 2011, and both that show and The Big Bang Theory aired on CBS on Thursdays. Following Two and a Half Men, Sheen went on to star in Anger Management, which ran for 100 episodes from 2012 to 2014. He even made a brief cameo appearance as himself on The Big Bang Theory in 2008, but it wasn’t significant enough to be considered one of the show’s best guest appearances.

Although Sheen later collaborated with Chuck Lorre once more on the HBO Max series Bookie – and even joined a memorable Two and a Half Men reunion on that show – he didn’t hold back when discussing the well-known sitcom creator in a past interview with The Guardian. He then shifted the conversation to The Big Bang Theory, saying:

I really like the young actors in the show, but it’s unlikely to succeed without our show leading into it. I’m hoping those kids do okay, because I know what they’re up against – it’s amazing they’re handling things so well. That guy is really difficult, and I’ve been avoiding him for a while now.

Charlie Sheen had a brief role in the show Bookie, appearing in three episodes over its two seasons. Although the show was cancelled in 2025, both seasons can still be watched on HBO Max. Besides Bookie, Sheen was featured in the documentary aka Charlie Sheen, along with his former Two and a Half Men co-stars Jon Cryer, Angus T. Jones, and Melanie Lynskey.

It’s good to hear Charlie Sheen and Chuck Lorre are getting along better now, especially considering their relationship during the run of The Big Bang Theory on CBS. However, Sheen hasn’t publicly shared if his feelings about the show have changed.
