Charlie Sheen shades ex Denise Richards as he discusses going through ‘messy divorce’

Even though Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards divorced twenty years ago, Sheen still describes the split as very difficult and complicated.

During a book signing in Atlantic City over the weekend, 60-year-old Charlie Sheen talked about his divorces and advised a fan to get a prenuptial agreement, referencing his experiences with Denise Richards, 54, and Brooke Mueller, 48.

Reflecting on his time on Two and a Half Men, where he worked from 2003 to 2011, he shared that he has many fond memories. He said things were going really well for a while, until ‘that thing’ happened – a clear reference to his departure from the show.

I was completely overwhelmed. It wasn’t really about work itself, but rather personal issues that I struggled to leave at home.

He went on to explain that those eight years were a difficult time, including raising four children and going through two costly and complicated divorces.

During a question-and-answer session, a fan jokingly asked the 23-year-old, according to a Daily Mail reporter at the event, if he was recommending a prenuptial agreement.

Sheen said, “If you’re able to, go for it. You’ll likely face some resistance, but perhaps she wants you to sign something too—it could work both ways.”

The actor, known for his role in Wall Street, has been married three times. He first married Donna Peele in 1995, but they divorced a year later. His second marriage was to Richards, lasting from 2002 to 2006, and his third was to Mueller from 2008 to 2011. He reportedly had a prenuptial agreement with Mueller, but not with Richards.

During the conversation at the Charlie Sheen show at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, the host mentioned the actor’s three previous wives.

The moderator asked about the subject’s three marriages and playfully questioned if they could even estimate how many romantic partners they’d had over their lifetime.

‘No,’ Sheen responded. ‘But why would I want to? It kind of cheapens it.’

He revealed in his autobiography that he’d had enjoyable, though unusual, sexual encounters with men. He didn’t mention this part of his life during his performance on Saturday, though.

Charlie Sheen has five children from different relationships. He shares Cassandra Jade Estevez, 40, with Paula Profit, and Sami Sheen, 21, and Lola Sheen, 20, with Denise Richards. He also has 16-year-old twins, Bob and Max Sheen, with Brooke Mueller.

He explained that staying sober is important to him because his children depend on him.

I have a lot of people depending on me, and I’m proud to be someone they can always rely on, no matter the time or place. I aim to be dependable, but also to keep things interesting. There’s something really admirable about that, I think.

Honestly, my priorities have completely shifted. My kids need me, and they come first – every single day. It’s a conscious choice I’ve made to be fully present for them, and that means I simply can’t navigate life feeling weighed down by anything. I’ve made this decision and I’m committed to it.

Charlie Sheen didn’t specify which of his children he was talking about. He’s currently not on speaking terms with his daughter, Sami, who shared on her mother Denise Richards’ reality show that they hadn’t communicated in five months.

She reportedly blocked him on OnlyFans in April after he sent her inappropriate messages following an argument, and he also failed to check on her after her nose surgery.

In September, Charlie Sheen spoke about his strained relationship with his daughter, Sami, telling People magazine they were working through issues and he expected things to improve.

He also ran into his former partner, Richards, at the Los Angeles premiere of his Netflix documentary, ‘aka Charlie Sheen,’ on September 4th.

The former Real Housewife of Beverly Hills shared a story about a recent encounter with Charlie, posting on Instagram that they both joked about feeling like it was 2002 when they saw each other on the red carpet. She reflected on their long and eventful history, noting all the highs and lows they’ve experienced together.

Denise Richards is currently divorcing Aaron Phypers, but seems to be friendly with Charlie Sheen. This comes despite her recently addressing Sheen’s story about a $1 million check he jokingly gave her years ago.

Last month, Richards posted a photo on Instagram of an old check she found while moving. She tagged Charlie Sheen and jokingly asked if it was still valid, writing, ‘I never cashed it, @charliesheen. Is it still good?!’
