Charlie Sheen reveals why he finally admitted to sleeping with men and insists he’s ‘single but not lonely’ – as he recalls the powerful message from Clint Eastwood that got him into rehab

While the series is full of interesting stories and honest confessions, one shocking detail really stands out above the rest.

In the final moments of the Netflix documentary about Charlie Sheen, the subject himself confirms long-standing rumors about having had relationships with men.

As someone who’s seen a lot of transformations, both personal and public, I can tell you honesty is *always* the hardest part. With my new docuseries, I really wanted to lay everything bare – the good, the bad, and the controversial. That meant addressing even the most sensitive rumors, including those about my personal life, and answering truthfully when asked about past experiences. It wasn’t easy, but it felt necessary to be completely open.

He told The Times: ‘I’m like, “Fine, let’s talk about it.’ It seemed like the right time.”

I know what it’s like to live with secrets, constantly bracing myself for bad news – a phone call, someone showing up unexpectedly. But honestly, I never really considered what things would be like if those secrets actually *became* public. It was always about avoiding discovery, not dealing with the fallout if it happened.

I’ve been following Charlie Sheen’s journey for a while now, and it’s honestly inspiring to see him doing so well. After publicly battling addiction – and being really open about his past with things like crack cocaine – he’s acknowledging that getting diagnosed with HIV puts him in the same position as so many other brave celebrities who’ve faced similar health challenges. It’s a tough situation, but he seems determined to use his experience to help others, and I really admire that.

He explained that it put him in the same category as Richard Pryor and Marlon Brando, adding with a smile, ‘That’s a pretty impressive group to be a part of, isn’t it?’

Once known for being surrounded by female companions and having been married three times, Sheen is now enjoying being single and doesn’t feel any pressure to start dating again.

He admitted it had been a while since he’d been on a date. He explained that he’d focused on dating for a long period and was enjoying the change of pace. He was currently single, but perfectly content with his own company.

The actor, whose father is famous Hollywood star Martin Sheen, managed to establish a successful career of his own. He first gained recognition in the 1984 drama *Red Dawn*, directed by John Milius.

Though a small part – playing the spaced-out teen Garth Volbeck in the classic ’80s comedy *Ferris Bueller’s Day Off* – is what first got Hollywood’s attention, it eventually led to the role he’s most known for.

He quickly rose to fame after appearing in the 1984 hit film *Platoon*. His powerful performance as Private Chris Taylor, a soldier in Oliver Stone’s realistic depiction of the Vietnam War, made him one of America’s most promising young actors.

Ironically, his work with Clint Eastwood on the 1990 film *The Rookie* offered a brief reprieve, even as his struggles with drugs and alcohol worsened.

In his new memoir, *The Book of Sheen*, the actor writes about a surprising intervention his parents organized. He was led to believe something else was happening, but arrived to find a group of friends – including the controversial yoga instructor Bikram Choudhury – waiting for him.

And Eastwood would also take part, albeit via a sobering phone call to the actor.

According to Sheen, the moment Captain Willard gives you an earpiece and you hear Dirty Harry’s voice, it’s an unbelievably cool experience you won’t forget.

Oh my gosh, Clint… he barely says anything usually, so when he *did* talk to me, I almost couldn’t breathe! He just looked right at me and, in that classic Clint way, said, “You got this. Just a minor speed bump. Go make me proud.” It was so short and to the point, but it meant *everything*. Seriously, I’ll never forget it. It gave me all the confidence I needed!

Although it’s appealing to switch up the line on the recording to something more playful like “go make my day,” I’m going to stay with the original wording.

I thanked him and went back to the living room to tell everyone what I’d decided. It was tough saying no, especially to someone like him.

There were tears, hugs, and high-fives as we rushed to Saint John’s hospital in Santa Monica. During the 38-minute drive, I spent almost the entire time figuring out how I could still compete in the bikini contest while also getting the rehab treatment I needed.
