Charlie Hunnam to play the skin-suit-wearing killer Ed Gein in Monster season 3

As a seasoned gamer and true crime enthusiast with an unhealthy obsession with all things horror, I must admit that the upcoming third season of “Monster” has me absolutely thrilled! The casting of Charlie Hunnam as Ed Gein is a masterstroke – his rugged good looks will certainly make for a chilling portrayal of one of the most notorious figures in the annals of serial killers.

Actor Charlie Hunnam, renowned for his roles in shows like “Sons of Anarchy,” “The Gentlemen,” and “Rebel Moon,” has been chosen to portray Ed Gein in an upcoming series. The production is set to begin next month, with a potential release date in fall 2025. At this point, no further casting or plot details have been disclosed.

Two days prior to the worldwide debut on Netflix, slated for September 19th, we bring you news about “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.” This series delves into the contentious case of the Menendez brothers, who were convicted of murdering their parents and are currently serving life sentences without parole. The title itself hints at the narrative that unfolds – the brothers have consistently claimed they endured years of mental, physical, and sexual abuse within their household, which ultimately drove them to commit the crime.

Previously, Netflix premiered “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” which set new records on the streaming service. Within just 60 days of its release, it had been watched for a staggering one billion hours, making it one of only four shows to reach that milestone. Immediately after its debut, Netflix announced plans for two more seasons of the series.

Since Dahmer portrayed serial killer John Wayne Gacy, there was widespread assumption that he would take center stage in either the second or third season of the show. There had been a buzz on social media suggesting that season 3 would revolve around Gacy, but now we can clarify that it will instead be centered on Gein.

Edward Gein’s chilling and gory anecdote has served as a muse for numerous horror characters, including Norman Bates from Psycho, Leatherface from The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and Buffalo Bill from The Silence of the Lambs. Moreover, it is said that Ryan Murphy modeled the serial killer character, Dr. Oliver Thredson (Bloody Face) in American Horror Story: Asylum, after Gein.

Although there are numerous suspicions that he was a multiple murderer, it hasn’t been definitively proven. Edward Gein’s confirmed victims were Mary Hogan and Bernice Worden. Nevertheless, there were allegations suggesting he might have taken the lives of many others.

Apart from being notoriously infamous for his gruesome murders, fans of true crime and horror often find themselves attracted to Ed Gein’s story due to its grotesque details. Known for his grave-robbing activities, sexual deviancy towards corpses, and the dismemberment of his victims, Gein is particularly intriguing. In his residence, law enforcement discovered a collection of macabre objects, such as items crafted from human skin and bones.

Of course, it’s clear that we can expect the third season of Monster to stir up quite a bit of debate and controversy, without a doubt.
