Charlie Cox Reveals This Unexpected Hero Will Join The Fight In Daredevil Born Again Season 3

The third season of Daredevil: Born Again will kick off a fresh chapter for the Hell’s Kitchen hero. Charlie Cox recently shared that a surprising new ally will appear in the upcoming episodes. The series has already seen other popular heroes team up with Matt Murdock to fight against Mayor Fisk’s criminal activity, including the Punisher (Jon Bernthal) in Season 1 and Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) in Season 2.

I’m really excited to see White Tiger and Karen Page teaming up with Daredevil! Season 3 is shaping up to be huge, and a lot more heroes are expected to join the fight. There’s even talk that we might see Iron Fist and Luke Cage show up eventually, even though they weren’t around last season. I’m hoping they can all work together!

In a recent interview on the podcast ‘On Film with Kevin McCarthy,’ actor Charlie Cox shared that his character, Matt Murdock, will be involved in fight sequences without his Daredevil mask in Season 3. This means Murdock himself, rather than his superhero alter ego, will step up as an unlikely hero to combat a new group of villains in the next season.

For one sequence in Season 3, I performed without my glasses or the Daredevil suit. It was tricky playing Matt Murdock like that – I had to do all the fight choreography, dodging and throwing punches, but without looking directly at my opponents. I had to rely on my peripheral vision and remember everything while the action was happening.

Murdock has a history of fighting crime outside of his Daredevil persona. In Season 1, Episode 5 of Daredevil: Born Again, there’s a memorable fight where Matt Murdock, pretending to be a blind lawyer, skillfully used his enhanced senses and fighting abilities to protect hostages.

Fans loved the recent story arc for how cleverly it showed Murdock managing to keep his Daredevil identity a secret, and for its great action sequences. Many are looking forward to seeing Matt Murdock return to the kind of detective work he did in Season 1, which will likely be a highlight of Daredevil: Born Again Season 3.

The second season of Daredevil: Born Again will feature Daredevil assembling a team to fight against Mayor Wilson Fisk and his task force aimed at stopping vigilantes. This means characters like Karen Page, Jessica Jones, and Bullseye will team up to protect New York from a potential state of martial law.

New episodes of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 premiere on Disney+ every Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET.

Why Matt Murdock’s Joining the Fight Is Crucial in Daredevil: Born Again

Both Daredevil and Daredevil: Born Again highlight how crucial Matt Murdock’s secret identity is to keeping his loved ones safe. The first season specifically showed him attempting to leave his vigilante life behind, largely due to the guilt he felt over the fallout with Foggy Nelson and his belief that he was the only one who could truly bring justice.

Things shifted dramatically in Season 2 when Murdock dedicated himself to fighting against Mayor Fisk’s oppressive rule. This led him to fully become Daredevil, focusing on taking down Fisk’s supporters and the task force created to oppose vigilantes.

Although it’s great news that Matt Murdock is returning, his involvement creates a dangerous situation. He’ll be forced to focus on self-preservation rather than immediately becoming Daredevil. This hints that the next season will be a particularly challenging and intense ride for Murdock, pushing him to his limits and emphasizing his weaknesses.
