Linsey Stewart and Dane Clark, a married couple, created Merv, and Jessica Swale, who also directed Summerland, was the director.

I was really worried Merv might end up feeling like one of those overly sweet Hallmark movies, but thankfully, the actors and everyone working on it were able to steer clear of that! MovieWeb pointed out that it even has a surprising twist that comes at the perfect moment and totally changes how you look at the whole story.

Collider suggests this romantic comedy is perfect for families during the holidays, praising its charming actors and adorable main character as key to its success.

Many of us recognize Zooey Deschanel because she’s famous for playing a key role in the popular holiday movie Elf, which airs every year during the Christmas season.

Zooey Deschanel recently told E! News that her children, Elsie (age 10) and Charlie (age 8), surprisingly haven’t watched the holiday favorite yet.

“They’ve seen part of it but they weren’t really that into watching it,” the actor said.

Deschanel suggested her children weren’t as excited about the movie as others, saying, “I think it just felt a little strange to them.”

Merv is available to stream worldwide now on Prime Video.
