As a long-time fan of both Charli XCX and Lorde, I must say that their friendship dynamic is as captivating as their music. The vulnerability and honesty they bring to their art, even when it involves personal relationships, is truly commendable. Their ability to navigate through complex feelings, share their experiences, and still maintain a strong bond, speaks volumes about their character and the depth of their connection.

In a candid moment, Charli XCX disclosed that she had apprehensions about Lorde cutting off their friendship following the omission of informing the singer-songwriter about her track titled ‘Girl, So Confusing‘.

I, a dedicated follower, am sharing that the artist, age 32, who has been facing criticism for offering subpar merchandise, recently clarified on Apple Music 1 with Zane Lowe that I hadn’t informed my close friend about the song supposedly depicting our relationship until the day before its release.

On Tuesday, she confided that she had mentally prepared herself for the possibility that our conversation might lead to a permanent end of our relationship, which could have very well been the case.

In her song, she expresses: “At times, I question if I could dislike you / Or maybe you merely wish to be me. People often comment that we resemble each other / They note our similar hairstyles / We discuss creating music together / Yet, I’m unsure if it’s sincere.

The artist behind the popular song “Boom Clap” verified that the new record reflects her complex emotions towards the 27-year-old, stemming from their professional journeys.

Previously this year, she confessed to Rolling Stone that she felt envious of the fame that Lorde, whose real name is Ella Yelich-O’Connor, garnered following the massive success of her song “Royals” which catapulted her into stardom in 2013.

She told the outlet: ‘I was super jealous of the success that [Royals] got, and that Ella got.

Reflecting on the similarities, you mentally connect the dots: ‘She was a fan of my music. We both sported big hairdos; I had a phase with big hair too. She wore black lipstick, and I’ve experimented with it as well. These shared traits make me think, “Perhaps that could have been me interacting with her.”‘

Tuesday saw her reach out to Lorde, who was informed a day before the U.S. release of her album ‘Brat’, where her track ‘Girl, So Confusing’ is included, to discuss it with her.

But, the New Zealand born singer had already heard the track because of the time difference.

Charli also revealed the Team singer already knew Girl, So Confusing was about her.

The English vocalist reminisced about the incident, stating, “‘I’ve got a feeling… I think I know which one it is.'” To which I responded, “Oh dear!” But she maintained her composure, and we continued to exchange voice messages.

Lorde then suggested she could remix the track.

Charli said, “It’d be awesome if she did that reply!” To which I replied, “Wow, unbelievable! Yes!” It all happened incredibly fast.

‘I mean, she said that on I think the Friday, and she sent me the thing, the verse by Monday.’

‘ frankly, I was left without words / upon hearing your voice message in the morning / you shared your emotions with me / let’s collaborate and improve it for the remix.’

She also touched on her battle with body dysmorphia, vocalizing, ‘I was so lost in my head / And scared to be in your pictures / ‘Cause for the last couple years / I’ve been at war with my body / I tried to starve myself thinner / And then I gained all the weight back.’

Charli’s candid interview comes just a month after she shared the stage with Lorde to preform the remix live in New York.
