Chappell Roan slams fans’ ‘creepy behavior’: ‘This is a random lady you don’t know’
As a seasoned cinema-goer who has witnessed the ups and downs of stardom through countless films, I find myself deeply moved by the story of Chappell Roan. Her experiences resonate with me, not just as an observer, but as someone who has always admired the artistry and vulnerability that artists bring to their craft.
Chappell Roan has once more voiced concerns over the inappropriate actions she’s encountered both offline and online, as her fame continues to grow.
On a Monday, the 26-year-old vocalist shared two clips on TikTok, discussing the conduct of fans who’ve approached her in person.
In the initial video, the singer posed a question that could be rephrased as follows: “Could you momentarily respond to my queries. Imagine encountering an unknown woman on the street, would you shout something out from your car window?” The singer continued, “Would you verbally intimidate her in public? Would you approach a stranger and ask for a photograph, only for her to decline politely but firmly, and then become upset with the stranger?”
Roan continued with more rhetorical questions. ..
The “Pink Pony Club” singer further stated, “Instead of trying to analyze and harass this stranger on the internet, remember she’s an unknown person to you, just as you are to her. Would you blindly believe everything you read about her online? Let’s take a moment to consider that we’re both strangers in each other’s eyes.”
On the very same day, Roan uploaded another video, expressing that she’s unbothered by the idea that “maltreatment” and “bullying” are perceived as “customary” for celebrities.
“The ‘Good Luck Babe’ singer expressed that just because certain erratic behavior is associated with the profession I’ve selected, it doesn’t make it acceptable or typical. It’s not something I desire or enjoy.”
On “The Comment Section With Drew Afualo” in July, Roan openly shared her unease regarding her stardom’s impact on her life and the unwanted focus shifting towards her family.
She expressed concern about people behaving strangely towards her, knowing details such as where her parents reside and where her sister works. A few years ago, she mentioned that if the situation escalated to stalker-like behavior, potentially endangering her family, she would leave. Now, she feels this point has been reached. Therefore, she’s scaled back on anything that could increase her visibility or recognition.
