Channel Ten Shocks Fans by Cancelling Beloved Show Amid Major Network Overhaul!

Channel Ten has cancelled a popular television show this year, confirming it will not air in 2025.

The improvised comedy show “Thank God You’re Here,” hosted by Celia Pacquola, is unlikely to appear on TV again in the near future.

As a devoted fan, I must sadly report that, contrary to some hopeful whispers, the cherished series will not grace our screens as part of the network’s 2025 schedule.

Nevertheless, it’s anticipated that Australia’s beloved comedians may rejoin the show next year in 2026, and various comedy programs are scheduled for broadcast this year.

A representative from Channel Ten stated that while the team at Working Dog [productions] is exceptionally skilled at juggling tasks, there’s only so much they can accomplish within a day due to the limited number of hours available.

2025 can’t come soon enough for me, as the brilliant minds at Working Dog have more narrative comedy magic up their sleeves! Beyond keeping us laughing with “Have You Been Paying Attention?” and “The Cheap Seats,” they’re hard at work on some exciting new projects. I just can’t wait to see what comedic gold they’ll unearth next!

Instead of showing this year, the cherished and amusing series, Thank God You’re Here, will take a break. However, we eagerly anticipate reopening the adored blue door for your enjoyment in 2026.

Back in the year 2006, Thank God You’re Here first aired, with Shane Bourne as the host and Tom Gleisner serving as the judge.

After a 14-year hiatus, it was revived by Pacquola as host and featured a guest judge each episode.

This development occurs during a significant restructuring within the network, featuring substantial modifications to their flagship news discussion program, The Project.

This month, it was announced that a cherished figure from The Project’s panel will not be continuing with the show when it resumes in 2025.

This year, comedian Michael Hing, aged 39, will no longer appear on the show, as he became a co-panelist on the series back in 2023.

Over the past two years, we’ve greatly enjoyed Michael Hing’s sharp humor and unpredictable antics during his frequent appearances on The Project, according to a statement from the network.

We eagerly hope that Michael achieves great success on his nationwide stand-up tour, and we’re excited to see him again at our desk during his breaks in 2025.

Additionally, Hing himself announced the news through social media platforms, expressing that he’s currently working towards his forthcoming Australian stand-up comedy tour, scheduled from February to July.

His most recent appearance on the long-running series was in mid-November.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m sharing some exciting news about The Project. Starting from next month, you’ll notice a change in the Friday lineup. Instead of the usual panel, it will now consist of only three co-panelists every Friday. Stay tuned for more!

In 2025, The Project will change up Fridays! Beginning in late February, tune in to The Project desk each Friday evening, where Rove McManus, Georgie Tunny, and Susie Youssef will be hosting as we wind down the work week and kick off the weekend festivities.

Prepare for the same mix of humor, charisma, and up-to-date information, but with additional room for unplanned, spontaneous interactions reminiscent of a Friday evening. It’s an ideal wrap-up to your workweek.

The network didn’t disclose the specific reasons for shrinking its panel, however, it could potentially be a cost-saving strategy aligning with Rove McManus’ promise to lighten the news focus on Friday episodes.

Since its inception in 2009, McManus has played a significant role in The Project. He was instrumental in bringing it to life through his production company, Roving Enterprises, and has been actively involved in its ongoing development ever since.

The panel show has also undergone an audience decline ever since changing up its format.

Troubles with ratings align with increasing scrutiny over The Project’s perceived left-leaning inclination and exits of notable personalities such as Carrie Bickmore, Peter Helliar, and Lisa Wilkinson.
