Channel Seven newsreader Mark Ferguson lists sprawling country homestead for $8.5million
As an ardent admirer of Mark Ferguson’s journalistic prowess and his charming demeanor, I find myself both envious and inspired by his recent decision to sell his breathtaking country mansion. A humble abode nestled in the picturesque town of Crookwell, this sprawling estate is not just a property but a testament to Mark’s hard-earned success and the fruit of his labor over the years.
Mark Ferguson, the newscaster from Channel Seven, has put up his vast rural estate on the market at an eye-watering price of $8.5 million.
In the quaint rural town of Crookwell, situated within New South Wales’ Southern Tablelands, Mark and his wife Jayne acquired a property back in 2014 at a cost of $1.4 million, according to The Daily Telegraph.
The duo has put up their property, called Hazeldean, for sale, and it’s estimated to be priced at approximately $8.5 million.
The spacious four-bedroom house resides on a large, 1,921-acre property that doubles as a functioning sheep and cattle farm.
According to the listing, the property can hold 3000 Merino sheep and around 150 cows.
In the ten years the family have lived at the property, it has undergone extensive renovations.
According to listing agent Col Medway, the property, which underwent a complete makeover, remains in the hands of the original owner. The on-site managers reside nearby, so no additional housing is needed for them.
‘However it will pass any inspection for buyers wishing to reside at the property full time.’
He added that the stunning spread would appeal to many different tastes and needs.
At present, this property is being managed under a long-term contract, offering services for two types of clients. Firstly, grazing enterprises outside the immediate area who value geographical diversity, and secondly, investors desiring a hassle-free rural investment that requires minimal involvement.
Nestled in a tranquil countryside setting, this property seamlessly blends traditional appeal with contemporary comforts. It’s surrounded by beautifully maintained gardens.
It features a spacious kitchen and living area as well as a traditional fireplace in the bedroom.
The sale took place following the determination of Mark’s role at Channel Seven, which was finalized in September, when it was made public that he would share the role of anchoring Sydney’s 7News with Angela Cox.
It was frequently rumored that Mark might be let go during the current mass layoffs at the broadcasting company, but it appears he has managed to keep his job.
Ferguson expressed his excitement about it, stating that Angie’s contributions to the daily news updates will significantly enhance them. She brings more expertise, vitality, and flexibility, making it easier for us to respond swiftly when major news stories unfold.
Previously, there were rumors suggesting that Mark might be replaced as the evening news anchor on Channel Seven, given the series of prominent departures from the struggling broadcasting company.
Previously, it was speculated that the news anchor, who is 58 years old, could potentially be succeeded by the weekend broadcasting duo consisting of Michael Usher and Cox.
According to reports from The Daily Telegraph, the executives at Seven News are now more open to the concept of swapping out the current newsreader for a two-person team.
Reports suggest that the weekend news team has been preparing since 2021 to assume duties on the evening news broadcast.
