Angela Cox was enjoying the summer weather on Sunday.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I ventured out for an invigorating surf session at the iconic Bondi Beach in Sydney, only to encounter a few bumps along the way.

The news reporter donned a light pink and black wet suit and climbed onto her blue surfboard, preparing for the ride ahead.

She tackled small waves as they rolled in, at first finding her footing and making a go of it.

Regrettably, during another attempt, she lost her balance and tumbled from the board, landing in the water.

During her outing, Angela chose a stylish, athletic look with snug surf attire, opting to go without makeup as she prepared for her surfing adventure.

Last year, Channel Seven brought on board Angela as a co-host for their 7News broadcast alongside their veteran presenter, marking a significant change in the hosting lineup.

She joined the channel’s weekday 6pm news bulletin alongside veteran broadcaster Mark Ferguson.

For approximately a quarter of a century, the presenter had been associated with Seven. In September, she shared the stage during the prime-time broadcast of 7News with Ferguson, who was 58 years old at the time.

For the past ten years, Ferguson has been our anchor on the 7News Sydney bulletin. Now, he’s teaming up with Cox as they take on co-anchor roles in a significant change to the program.

For the first time, Ferguson found himself collaborating with a fellow presenter, a role he typically handles solo, having been renowned for leading the news bulletin independently throughout his career.

The shift in hosting is happening at a time when Channel Seven is undergoing a series of layoffs among its media staff, as the network seeks to reduce expenses due to challenging conditions in the advertising market.

Recently, the network stunned fans with an unexpected departure of veteran host Sharyn Ghidella, along with Robert Ovadia, Andrew Frampton, and Cameron Baud choosing to leave as well.

It is not the first time Cox has appeared on 7News.

Previously, she took over Ferguson’s role and aired the 6 pm news broadcast in July since he was on vacation during the Olympics.

Her initial solo performance fueled whispers about potential changes in the leadership of Seven, suggesting they might be considering a replacement for long-term host Ferguson. However, their joint debut as anchors put an end to those rumors.

As a devoted admirer, I can attest that I’ve heard beforehand about how my temporary substitution for Ferguson on the program left the seven key figures in awe, thanks to the remarkable performance by Cox.

It was widely believed that Angela and Michael would make a couple. However, some were pleasantly surprised by Angela’s solo performance, as it turns out she’s quite the unexpected talent.

In various focus groups, Angela consistently draws exceptionally high audience engagement. Therefore, executives across different television networks are keeping a keen eye on her performance and are likely to conduct further investigations themselves.

Last year, I proudly announced my new position with 7News, posting an official photo of myself and Mark on Instagram, expressing my excitement in heartfelt words.

I’m excited to announce that @mark_fergo and I will be co-hosting on @7newssyd, marking a fresh, dynamic phase for our news team.

Over the past ten years, Fergo has earned countless faithful viewers through his genuine charm, honesty, and modesty. It’s an immense privilege for me to work beside him from now on, as we continue our mission to provide Sydney with top-notch news coverage.

Our exceptional team, made up of distinguished journalists, content creators, and technical personnel, put in tireless effort daily to deliver superior news coverage focusing on topics that are most significant to our audience.

Just like how Aussies are adapting to new ways of getting their news, we at [Your Channel/Platform] are also changing with the times. A big shout-out to all our viewers who have stood by me during these past few weeks as I’ve been on my own – your kindness and support mean a lot!

‘I hope you will tune in when Fergo and I launch next Sunday. Let’s do this.’

Ferguson expressed his excitement about collaborating with Cox, calling it a “new beginning” since he hasn’t shared the news bulletin with a co-presenter in the past.

Every evening, Ange brings an additional dimension to the newsletter; she has more experience and vitality, making us more adaptable when major events unfold,” he explained.

In certain aspects, this feels like a brand new experience for me since I haven’t done much co-presenting in the past. I’m eager to learn from Ange and pick up some new skills, considering I’m more of an old dog in this field.

‘She is a talented journalist, a great presenter and an even greater person.’

Back in 2014, Seven viewers have been accustomed to seeing Cox alongside Michael Usher during the weekend editions of their 6 pm news broadcast. This is because she’s well-known for her association with Seven.

In addition, she has served as a U.S. correspondent for Seven, led their evening news show “The Latest,” and occupied a position within their previous prime-time current affairs show “Sunday Night.

For a quarter of a century, Cox has reported on some of the globe’s grandest spectacles, such as the marriage of the Prince and Princess of Wales and the Olympics.

As I immersed myself in my work across the USA, I had the privilege of covering five Academy Award ceremonies, not to mention the Golden Globes, Grammys, and Emmys! However, after careful consideration, I chose to return to my roots in Australia.

Since childhood, Cox nurtured a deep enthusiasm for journalism, which eventually led her to pursue a degree in journalism in Queensland. Her ultimate goal was to work in the world of fashion magazines.

Afterward, she encountered someone from the TV industry and managed to convince them for some work experience. This marked the beginning of her extensive on-screen career.

For a period of about three months, she fulfilled an internship role during the weekdays and maintained a part-time position on weekends. This allowed her to keep afloat financially before securing employment with company Seven.

She described her career as focusing on telling people’s stories authentically, fostering trust so they feel comfortable sharing with her, rather than it being about personal accolades or self-promotion.
