Channel Nine’s Clint Stanaway has a run-in with police in Paris as the city prepares for the Olympics: ‘They weren’t happy’

As a devoted fan of Australian journalism, I couldn’t help but be thrilled when I heard about Clint Stanaway’s recent adventure in Paris! The image of him standing in front of a beautiful French landscape with that mischievous twinkle in his eye just added to my excitement.

Channel Nine’s Clint Stanaway has revealed he was almost arrested in Paris this week.

A 41-year-old man, currently in Paris for broadcasting Olympics coverage on Weekend Today, encountered law enforcement after accidentally entering a prohibited zone.

Clint explained that he unintentionally came across a newly constructed railway station, which is set to debut next week, and was subsequently approached by the police.

During an interview on Nova 100’s Jase and Lauren Show last Friday, Clint shared that he became suspicious of his circumstances when the railway platform was empty, with only him present.

‘I hear this ”Monsieur! Excuse-moi Monsieur!”,’ he said.

‘I had breached security inadvertently, (I was) out of bounds (and in) a no-go zone.’

During an appearance on Weekend Today, the show’s host mentioned that the atmosphere soured between them and the police officers involved in an incident once they discovered he was not a local resident.

He mentioned that a new train station was scheduled to debut next week in coordination with the Olympics and the opening ceremony. However, the police expressed their displeasure about it.

While navigating Paris’s public transportation on his initial day there, Clint encountered a security issue.

In a different part of their conversation with hosts Jason Hawkins and Lauren Phillips, Clint explained that strict security measures have been implemented by the French government in Paris ahead of the Olympics starting on July 26.

He said that the police and the army have created a ‘ring of steel’ around Paris.

‘Effectively, they’re trying to, sort of, lockdown that central business district,’ he explained.

Authorities have set up wire fences all around the city as an extra security measure, and there are many police officers patrolling the streets.

‘It makes you feel safe, and not a lot can go wrong,’ he said.

I’m thrilled to share that this year, I had the honor of being chosen as one of three new hosts for Channel Nine’s popular breakfast program, Weekend Today. With years of experience in journalism and broadcasting under my belt, I can’t express how excited I am for this new opportunity. It’s a dream come true to join such a esteemed team and bring the latest news and stories to viewers on the weekends. This is a pivotal moment in my career, and I’m eager to make the most of it.

The network introduced Jayne Azzopardi and Clint as the fresh faces leading the program, while Sophie Walsh took on the role of news anchor and Dan Anstey became the weather reporter.

Instead of: Jayne, Clint and Sophie took over from Richard Wilkins, Belinda Russell, and Charles Croucher as the new hosts.
