Channel Nine Star’s Wedding Features Donkey Waiters and an Oyster Trough!
Anna Rawlings, a journalist from Channel Nine Brisbane, and her partner Nick Toohey exchanged vows in an unconventional wedding ceremony held in Tasmania earlier this year.
On Valentine’s Day, the church wedding of the pair took place at Turners Marsh Uniting Church close to Beaconsfield, and it showcased many distinctive elements.
Among the standout features were the unconventional wait staff – two cute miniature donkeys.
The animals delighted guests by carrying Champagne magnums and Tassie ale in their saddlebags.
The offbeat addition added a touch of rural fun to the festivities.
Anna, 32, and Nick, 36, spared no detail in their celebration.
Additionally, some less common elements were incorporated, such as a vibrant welcome event featuring an oyster bar and performances by the local group named Raccoon Dog.
The significant moment reached its peak with touching speeches and hors d’oeuvres, as Anna switched into another gown for the special event.
The remarkable occurrence concluded with heartfelt words and finger foods, with Anna donning a second dress to mark the occasion.
The couple met on a dating site and recently enjoyed a safari honeymoon in South Africa.
The wedding showcased their unique personality through its historical backdrop, playful references to Shrek, and maritime themes during the bachelor(ette) parties.
The courtroom reporter said she was thrilled to get married in such a memorable manner.
Beyond just the donkeys, it was incredibly unique to get married at a place steeped in history, which happens to be owned by my family, as she shared with the Gold Coast Bulletin.
‘I also surprised myself by agreeing to a photo shoot in the cemetery.’
After the wedding ceremony concluded, the new spouses arranged all the wedding blooms at a local cemetery’s grave sites.

On that particular day, the expense amounted to fifty thousand dollars, and interestingly enough, the church where the couple exchanged their vows was a property owned by the bride’s parents – they had invested numerous years into its meticulous restoration.
Anna commenced her journalism career back in 2013 at Profile Magazine situated on the Sunshine Coast, where she has proven herself as a seasoned professional.
She went on to work for the Win Network in Cairns and Sky News Australia on the Gold Coast.
One of her notable achievements is reporting on significant events like the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and the devastating 2022 Brisbane floods.
In 2022, Anna joined 9News Queensland as a court reporter.
Her hard work ethic and upbeat personality saw her quickly become a key figure in the newsroom.
