Paul, the mountaineer guide, embarks on a journey with his rebellious teenage daughter, Sara. Their expedition turns dangerous when Sara accidentally sees a murder, and now they must outwit the murderers pursuing them.

Initially aired in 2021 under the guidance of director Abel Ferry, the entire 4-episode series of the suspenseful French survival drama is now accessible for free, complete with advertisements, through Channel 4’s streaming platform.

In this production, Philippe Bas takes on the role of Paul, whereas Maïra Schmitt portrays their daughter Sara. Alongside them, you’ll find Armelle Deutsch, Laurent Maurel, Yann Pradal, and Olivier Sa as part of the cast.

The current user rating for this series on IMDb stands at 5.3 out of 10. Opinions among viewers vary; some commend Bas’s acting, while others find the show predictable.

One spectator commented about Bas, saying, “He convincingly portrayed a climber’s role,” further noting, “I truly believed he could scale mountains. His dialogue exchanges with his daughter were commendable. A strong acting display.

The film gets progressively more thrilling towards the closing moments, alas, this intensity lasts only for about 15 minutes. Nevertheless, it leaves a lasting impression through its brief yet stunningly captivating landscapes.

Another viewer commented, “This film is rather predictable,” elaborating, “Ever since the ‘Vertical Limit’ in the 90s, I’ve been hoping for another movie that matches its level of over-the-top excitement. Unfortunately, this isn’t it – but considering it’s a TV production, it’s quite respectable.

The Devil’s Leap is available to stream on Channel 4.

The latest print issue from Digital Spy, titled “Oasis – Live in ’25,” is now available for purchase! You can grab a copy at your local newsstand or online, with the price set at an affordable £8.99.
