Channel 10 has cancelled the station’s afternoon bulletin.
Narelda Jacobs, a well-known broadcaster, began hosting the new 30-minute news program in early 2024, and it quickly gained a lot of attention.
This week, employees received an email announcing that the company newsletter will not be published after 2026. The email also assured staff that this change will not result in any job losses.
An internal memo revealed that Channel 10 will be changing the time of its late-night news program, hosted by Ursula Heger, from 10:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
Martin White, the head of news at Channel 10 owner Paramount Australia, explained that the recent changes were made after looking at audience data and to improve how the network uses its staff and budget.
Okay, so I somehow got my hands on the email they sent to everyone, and honestly, it’s just… chef’s kiss. Apparently, when they cancelled the afternoon news, they wanted to make it super clear it wasn’t because of the amazing people who work on it! Like, they had to specifically say it wasn’t a reflection on the daytime team’s work. I just… I live for this level of detail, you know? It shows they really care… or at least, they want everyone to think they care. It’s fascinating!
White explained that they are focusing their news and resources on platforms where research shows they’ll reach a larger audience.
‘We want our audience to see as much of your work as possible, on as many platforms as possible.
Elsewhere in the memo, White heaped praise on the network’s afternoon news team.
‘This is a recognition of the bulletin’s phenomenal success over the past 12 months.
He praised the team’s excellent work, saying they’ve brilliantly reinvented a show that’s central to 10’s identity.
White also used the email to farewell Chris Bath, who is leaving the network after a decade.
‘She will always be a valued member of the 10 family,’ he said.
This announcement follows last week’s news that Georgie Tunny will be the new host of Bath’s weekend news program.
The 34-year-old, previously a host on Project star, will still work as a reporter for 10News+.
White said the network was ‘lucky’ to have a talent such as Tunny on the books.
‘Georgie is a great journo and presenter, and we’re lucky to have her at 10 News,’ he said.

Tunny also took to Instagram on Wednesday to break the news to followers.
She playfully announced some news, sharing that she’s thrilled to be the new National Weekend Bulletin Host for Network Ten. She joked, ‘You can call me Anchorman… but maybe don’t!’
When Bath, 58, said she was leaving Channel Ten in October, many people thought Tunny would take her place.
According to insiders, Bath had become too expensive for the network.
Chris Bath, who has hosted 10 News’ national weekend bulletin for seven years, will deliver her final broadcast at the end of the year, according to a Ten spokesperson who spoke with Daily Mail.
