Channel Ten has confirmed The Amazing Race will not return to screens in 2026.
A network representative confirmed the news to the Daily Mail on Thursday, explaining that a number of issues contributed to the decision.
A spokesperson announced that while they’ve been developing another season of The Amazing Race Australia, it won’t air in 2026 due to difficulties with travel arrangements and other logistical challenges.
People familiar with the show say they had already started choosing actors for the 2026 season when they found out it was canceled.
The sudden cancellation is unexpected, especially since Channel Ten heavily promoted The Amazing Race as a key show for 2026 just last November at their annual presentation.
‘This wasn’t some small side project. It was one of their major shows,’ the insider said.
‘To halt it halfway through casting is almost unheard of.’
Considering the extensive planning required to film with the cast and crew in locations all over the globe, it’s understandable that the show will take a break in 2026.
While the show is bowing out this year, fans can remain hopeful for a 2027 return.
I’m a huge fan, and it’s definitely not because people aren’t watching! The ratings for The Amazing Race’s 2025 season are actually really good, so it’s great to see it still doing well.
The season drew an average of 813,000 viewers nationwide, a 7% rise compared to last year.
The show’s finale was a huge success for the network, drawing in 1.1 million viewers nationwide.
Stephen and Bernard Curry, a pair of Australian actors, won first place on Monday night, earning a $100,000 donation for their favorite charity.
I was so thrilled to see the brothers succeed in their fundraising efforts! They walked away with a generous donation for One in Five, a fantastic organization dedicated to supporting vital research into mental health. It’s incredibly inspiring to see people taking action and making a real difference in this important area.
‘We know winning The Amazing Race is a really tough thing to do, and we’ve done it,’ Stephen said.
I’m still in disbelief. Sharing this experience with my best friend, like a brother to me, is something I’ll cherish forever.
Fans flooded social media to celebrate the big win and voice their support for the victorious duo.
