Over about two weeks, I’ve been immersed in intense Counter-Strike 2 matches, leading up to the ultimate showdown at IEM Cologne 2025 – the grand finals! It’s down to Team Spirit and MOUZ now, and I can hardly wait to see who will emerge victorious.
At IEM Cologne 2025, both MOUZ and Team Spirit stood poised to claim the title of champions following Vitality’s unexpected elimination. The path to the finals for MOUZ was arduous, as they encountered tough competition in the playoffs. However, the road ahead to the championship was not going to get any simpler. Team Spirit stood as their ultimate adversary, and neither team was willing to yield in this fierce battle.

MOUZ crumble as Team Spirit dominate at IEM Cologne 2025

2025’s IEM Cologne saw Spirit taking an aggressive stance on Maple’s Mirage. Their dominance as Counter-Terrorists gave them a significant advantage, pushing their opponents onto the defensive. MOUZ staged a comeback in the second half with five rounds won, but it was not enough to deter Spirit who ultimately secured a resounding win on Mirage.

As Ancient approached, it appeared that MOUZ was poised for victory, with a commanding 8-4 lead. They extended their advantage to 11-5. However, an unexpected turn of events occurred. Spirit started to stage a comeback, leaving MOUZ in disarray. Round after round, Danil ‘donk’ Kryshkovets’ skill shone through for Spirit, ultimately leading to eight consecutive round victories. This enabled Spirit to win the second map and put themselves one win away from securing the match.

In a desperate situation, MOUZ needed an unlikely victory on Nuke if they were to stand a chance against Team Spirit at IEM Cologne 2025. However, their performance suggested that the weight of their recent defeat had affected them. Finding themselves trailing 4-8 in the first half, MOUZ seemed to be outmatched by the stronger Team Spirit team. Ultimately, it was clear that Spirit was the superior team on this particular day.
With that, IEM Cologne 2025 concludes following Team Spirit’s dominant win over MOUZ. Now, both squads are gearing up for the BLAST Bounty Fall 2025 qualifier, set to begin on August 5th. Subsequently, the Esports World Cup will stage a significant CS2 tournament.
