Fans of the anime and manga series Chainsaw Man recently held a mock funeral for its creator, Tatsuki Fujimoto. This protest appears to be in response to the series’ recent developments. The event started with attendees at the Comic World convention in Busan, South Korea, according to posts shared on social media.

This gathering happened soon after the release of the final chapter, “Thank You, Chainsaw Man,” on March 26, 2026, which many fans found disappointing.

A video is currently spreading on social media, originally shared on X (formerly Twitter), that shows a cosplayer pretending to perform a ritual sacrifice. In the video, other cosplayers hold toy swords to the person’s throat and ask them what their last words are.

One viewer asked if the unusual display was a protest, and the person who created it responded that they were upset with how the anime Chainsaw Man ended. The display seems to represent the creator’s spirit being reborn, as if it had faded away after the show finished.

The ending of the Chainsaw Man manga caused a lot of discussion online, with the recent reaction nicknamed “the Fujimoto funeral” being particularly widespread.
