Chace Crawford’s Heartfelt Tribute to Michelle Trachtenberg After Her Tragic Passing
Chase Crawford paid tribute to his late former Gossip Girl co-star, Michelle Trachtenberg, after hearing about her unexpected and heartbreaking passing at the age of 39.
After it was reported that his ex-coworker passed away in New York City on Wednesday, the 39-year-old actor from Lubbock, who is well recognized for his work in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Harriet the Spy, offered a tribute to Trachtenberg.
According to reports from People, while the exact reason for her death remains undetermined, it is said that she had received a liver transplant recently and was facing difficulties before her demise.
In remembrance of Trachtenberg, Crawford posted an album filled with old photos of them, characterizing her as extraordinary or unique.
He shared, “The first time I saw her on set, she took control like no one else. She was an incredible, powerful presence, undeniably hilarious and captivating. Thinking back to those years brings a huge smile to my face. Such an unfortunate loss. My heart goes out to you ❤️
Actor Ed Westwick, known for his role as Chuck Bass on Gossip Girl, was one of the first to express condolences upon learning about Trachtenberg’s death, stating that he was deeply saddened by the news.
Furthermore, Blake Lively paid a heartfelt homage to Trachtenberg, who she portrayed as fiercely devoted, compassionate, and deeply empathetic.
Today marked the first time I encountered Michelle. She radiated an electrifying presence, and it was evident whenever she walked into a room as the atmosphere would shift noticeably, according to Lively’s heartfelt Instagram post.
Michelle’s genuine nature shone brightly, as evidenced by the fact that she gave everything her all. She laughed heartily in response to jokes, stood firmly against authority when she sensed something amiss, and poured sincere dedication into her work.
As a devoted follower, I take pride in being associated with this remarkable community and profession, even when the challenges seem overwhelming. Moreover, my loyalty towards my friends knows no bounds, and I am courageous when it comes to standing up for those I cherish.
As a devoted admirer, I’d express it as follows: “I was large, daring, and undeniably myself,” said Lively – the remarkable woman who portrayed Serena van der Woodsen from 2008 to 2012 on that captivating series – in her heartfelt tribute.
The star then shared an anecdote about Michelle’s lipgloss.
She shared how Michelle often wore delightful caramel-scented lip gloss not only to shine on camera but also to offer an enjoyable experience to everyone around her, even the subtlest detail like the scent of her lip gloss, as she valued small, sweet touches.
Lively described her as a ‘kind person, through and through.’

Pondering over the sorrow, she remarked, ‘As time goes by, we often overlook opportunities to catch up with an old acquaintance. In simpler terms, it’s the unexpected hardships that strike on a seemingly ordinary day that truly highlight the poignancy of life.’
In wrapping up her tribute, she encouraged her followers with these words: ‘Embrace tightly the people you cherish and those whom you’ve cherished before. The world mourns the loss of a profoundly compassionate and wonderful soul in Michelle. Let us remember her remarkable work and her immense kindness to those fortunate enough to have known her warmth.’
In the television series The Gossip Girl, which aired from 2008 to 2012, Trachtenberg frequently appeared as the character Georgina Sparks, also known as ‘The Witch of the Upper East Side’, across 28 episodes.
The series focused on a clique of affluent teens studying at exclusive educational institutions, as they dealt with their friendships, conflicts, and love lives.
In 2022, Trachtenberg featured in two installments of the updated Gossip Girl series, continuing her character of Georgina from the original show on the Max network.
On Wednesday, Trachtenberg passed away naturally after undergoing a liver transplant, as confirmed by police sources to ABC News.
On a Wednesday morning, around 8 o’clock local time, the star was discovered deceased in her apartment close to Columbus Circle, New York City, by her mother.
