Celia Imrie is already well-known for her roles in popular films and TV shows like Bridget Jones, Nanny McPhee, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, and The Thursday Murder Club. Her recent appearance on The Celebrity Traitors has solidified her status as a beloved public figure. Now, it’s been announced she’ll be starring in a new Christmas movie called Merry Christmas Aubrey Flint. The film centers around Aubrey Flint, a reclusive painter who isn’t a fan of people or the holiday season.
So, this guy gets in trouble and has to do community service, which lands him at Willow Lodge, a retirement home that’s really down on its luck. Before he knows it, he’s somehow directing the residents in a play of A Christmas Carol! It’s all going okay, but then something terrible happens, and suddenly Willow Lodge is facing closure. It’s a really stressful situation for everyone involved!
Aubrey has to choose between staying on the sidelines or embracing his new community and the real meaning of Christmas.

I’m so excited about the cast for this! Along with Imrie, they’ve got John Bradley from Game of Thrones and the brilliant Richard E Grant. Plus, Adjoa Andoh who I loved in Bridgerton, Sophia Di Martino from Loki, Adrian Rawlins of Slow Horses, and even comedians Karl Pilkington and Kiell Smith-Bynoe! It’s a really impressive group of actors.
The cast also includes Nigel Planer, Ann Mitchell, Dave Johns, Dustin Demri-Burns, Harriet Webb, and Beau Thompson.
We don’t yet know what Imrie’s character will be like, but she’s playing a former stage star from London’s West End who is known for being a heavy smoker.
