I was absolutely thrilled when Alan Carr won Celebrity Traitors on Thursday, but honestly, he was really worried about being seen as the villain! He thought people might actually label him the ‘most hated man in Britain,’ which was a bit much, but showed how seriously he took the game.
In a surprising turn of events, the comedian tricked Nick Mohammed and David Olusoga into thinking he was one of the good guys, allowing him to win the entire £87,500 prize as a secret Traitor.
Alan, famously known to viewers as both the ‘best’ and ‘worst’ Traitor, has surprisingly become a fan favorite. He won over the nation by openly enjoying betrayals and hilariously failing to convincingly portray himself as one of the ‘faithful’ players.
Although Alan hasn’t been on television much lately, many people believe he’s poised for a comeback after becoming a national favorite.
2026 is shaping up to be a big year for Alan Carr! He’s scheduled to return for another season of his travel show with Amanda Holden on the BBC, host a new competition series on Channel 4 alongside Susie Dent, and participate in the UK version of Amazon Prime’s LOL: Last One Laughing.
Alan’s become incredibly popular, and is now a leading candidate to host Strictly Come Dancing, following Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly’s recent departure.
Rumors are circulating that he might get a new talk show, after his previous program, Chatty Man, was cancelled eight years ago because it wasn’t popular enough.

I’m seeing a huge resurgence in Alan’s popularity! Everyone wants to work with him, and honestly, it feels like he’s poised to be just as much of a household name now as he was throughout the 2000s and 2010s. It’s fantastic to watch!
He acknowledges he’s changed since his most successful years, and now recognizes that he used to tell jokes that were hurtful to others.
In a 2023 interview, Alan discussed how his comedy has changed over time. He admitted that during his appearances on ‘Chatty Man,’ his monologues often relied on jokes that were insensitive or targeted those less powerful – something now referred to as ‘punching down.’ He noted that audiences today generally don’t appreciate that kind of humor.
It feels like things are really chaotic right now, and there are a lot of unpleasant people around. I used to criticize things like reality TV shows, but now we’ve realized what the real problems are.
Use your influence to stand up to people who are truly harmful, not just someone who’s simply untalented. That’s why I’m speaking out now.
Honestly, seeing what happened with Justin Lee Collins… it completely changed how I saw Alan. It wasn’t just about a funny partnership anymore. When Justin was convicted of abusing his ex, it was like a lightbulb went off. Alan really understood then – the weight words have, the damage they can do. It wasn’t just a career thing for him, it felt deeply personal, like he grasped the real power – and danger – of what you say. It was a turning point, I could just tell.
They had collaborated for years on what began as The Friday Night Project, and later became known as The Sunday Night Project.
After Justin was convicted in 2012, the comedian faced public disgrace and quickly lost several television jobs, leading him to withdraw from public life.

During the trial, Justin’s ex-girlfriend, Anna Larke, testified to a disturbing pattern of abuse. She described instances where he had spat at her, pulled her hair, and physically assaulted her, causing extensive bruising.
The judge called Justin’s offense a ‘very serious matter’ and sentenced him to 140 hours of community service, as well as requiring him to pay a fine of £3,500.
I was pretty surprised when Alan called Justin ‘a lovely guy’ while talking about working with him. It caused a bit of a backlash, honestly, and people started criticizing Alan for it.
During an appearance on Loose Women, he explained that the person everyone saw wasn’t the Justin he remembered. He shared that Justin had been a significant and joyful presence in his life.
He was clearly in an unhealthy relationship, but he’s worked through it now. I didn’t want to betray his trust or talk badly about him because I value our friendship, and he’s already taken care of things. I think everyone deserves another chance.
Alan has since revealed the pair are no longer friends.
In an interview with The Guardian, he considered the idea that people assume he quickly loses touch with friends. He explained it’s not necessarily about him ending relationships, pointing out he also hasn’t stayed in contact with former coworkers from jobs at a factory and Tesco. He simply stated that people move on with their lives.

Alan is also dealing with a complicated situation involving his ex-husband, Paul Drayton, who is writing a revealing book about their divorce.
The couple split in 2022 after 13 years together and three years of marriage.
A year earlier, Paul, known for his struggles with alcohol, had almost gone to jail after accidentally hitting a police car while driving under the influence. His breathalyzer test had shown a dangerously high alcohol level.
Alan had cited Paul’s drinking as the ‘final straw’ in their rocky relationship.
People close to the couple said their relationship fell apart after Paul posted a photo of his bruised face, saying it happened during an argument with his partner.
According to a source at the Daily Mail, Alan was aware that Paul’s statement could seriously damage his career and lead to significant problems.
They successfully resolved the problem, protecting Alan’s reputation. It was a close call, and another issue like this could have been disastrous.
Alan and Adele have been supporting each other through difficult periods, just as Alan was there for her when she went through her divorce. While it’s upsetting for everyone, they both agreed it was time to go their separate ways.
Okay, so this situation was really delicate. After initially leaving up a photo showing a visible injury, I advised Paul to take it down pretty quickly – within an hour, actually. Then, the next day, we put out a clear statement – and it was important it was direct – confirming that he hadn’t been physically harmed by Alan. It needed to be a firm denial, stating clearly that Alan would never, and hadn’t ever, hit him. Transparency and a direct approach were key in handling the public narrative.
The Chatty Man host explained that Paul’s injury happened because he had started drinking again, and confirmed he wasn’t involved, as he was filming in Wales when it occurred.
He also revealed Paul ‘would be getting all the help he needs to get better.’

Paul recently shared his thoughts on Alan’s time on Celebrity Traitors, suggesting that Alan’s personality changes when he’s not filming. He also hinted that the close bond Alan seemed to have with Paloma Faith was played up for the show.
He explained to The Sun that the man his family knows is quite different from the Alan people see on television, and that he can be very determined and even harsh when he needs to be.
He has a limit, and if you push it too far, he’ll tell you he’s had enough and won’t continue the relationship.
He was generally understanding and patient with people, but he wouldn’t hesitate to end relationships with anyone he felt was using him.
Paul clarified that he wasn’t trying to criticize his ex-husband, and they’ve remained friendly despite their divorce.
The show revealed a surprising side of Alan, who defied expectations and won despite many viewers believing he’d be one of the first to be exposed as a Traitor.
During his time as a Traitor he was involved in two controversial murders.
He began by publicly killing singer Paloma, physically touching her face as he did so.

Paloma clearly expressed her frustration at being eliminated first, and criticized Alan, suggesting he would have reacted differently if he were in her position.
In a recent podcast interview, she strongly criticized his decision, stating it was a clear choice he made, even if it was the simplest one, and she didn’t approve of it.
Alan jokingly referenced ‘killing off’ Paloma after the shocking reveal on Celebrity Traitors surprised everyone watching.
He was selected for a second, very public murder, targeting Celia Imrie, a well-known and respected figure, and someone he knew personally.
During the show’s final episode, Alan tearfully confessed to being a Traitor, explaining that he was deeply upset by all the lying and deception he had to do.
The show attracted 12 million viewers at its peak, making it the BBC’s most-watched program overnight since the Gavin & Stacey Christmas special aired last year.
Reflecting on the difficult experience, the TV personality explained that the constant betrayal, lies, and deaths of Paloma and Celia had finally caught up with them.
He realized he’d raised a significant amount of money for his chosen charity, Neuroblastoma UK.

He explained that he became overwhelmed with emotion because the charity means so much to him. He hopes people will understand his distress and not focus on the fact that he destroyed valuable historical items.
Alan didn’t need to worry at all, because despite his violent actions, the British public actually grew to adore him.
He has since confessed he would love to take part in the show all over again.
Alan expressed a disturbing desire to repeat a violent act next year, suggesting he might commit murder ‘just for the thrill’ and to relive past experiences.
