Cat Burns, known for appearing on the reality show ‘The Traitors,’ has shared that she felt very confused and upset after her breakup with her girlfriend, Jodie Rockett, which happened earlier in 2024.
The 25-year-old singer, currently a popular contestant on a BBC show, recently shared details about her first painful breakup in a new interview.
After a difficult year, including a breakup with Jodie and the loss of her grandfather John, she’s turned her experiences into new music.
Jodie and Cat started dating in 2021 and frequently shared photos of each other on social media.
She recently shared with The Times about a challenging time in her life, explaining that experiencing a first heartbreak and the loss of a close loved one are incredibly impactful events that shape who you are.
You can either let difficult experiences define you and stay stuck in the past, or you can learn from them and emerge stronger. Some people never recover, but others become more resilient as a result.
‘I was intrigued to see if I was going to get through it because I felt so lost at the time.’
She didn’t say whether she’s currently dating anyone, but expressed optimism about finding a partner in the future.
Cat has talked openly about her difficult breakup in an interview with Jamie Laing on his Great Company podcast.
She described feeling like she was going to die when she first went through it, explaining that breakups between women can be incredibly painful – ‘hell on earth,’ as she put it.
I was terrified and genuinely believed my life was in danger. When I first woke up, everything felt so terrible that I thought I was experiencing something like hell. I was so scared I went to my mom’s room and lay on top of her, fearing the worst.
My mom told me that when she went through her first heartbreak, her own mother found her crying and rocking back and forth on the floor.
Cat has gained a lot of new fans thanks to her sneaky and mischievous actions on the show, The Celebrity Traitors, and is now sharing her thoughts in a frank and honest interview.
The popular singer will also be trading a Scottish castle for the dance floor, as she’s scheduled to perform on the Halloween special of Strictly Come Dancing.
Cat will take to the stage as part of the spooky results show on Sunday November 2.
At the start of the show last month, she was named as one of the three ‘traitors,’ along with Jonathan Ross and Alan Carr.

Celia Imrie, who plays a member of the Thursday Murder Club, was eliminated from ‘The Traitors’ by Alan, 49, and Cat during a dinner party with the final six contestants. The elimination happened openly, in front of everyone.
Alan and Cat have noticed people are starting to suspect them, but a string of mistakes and unexpected events suggest they’re likely to fail in their final attempt.
Trouble started when Claudia, a 53-year-old host, seemed to accidentally reveal that the singer Cat was secretly a Traitor on the show.
From the start of the show, the celebrity contestants have been closely watching each other, looking for subtle shifts in how they act and what their body language reveals.
The show featured moments like Kate Garraway from Good Morning Britain being playfully teased for her enthusiastic personality and use of words like ‘flabbergasted,’ and Line of Duty’s Mark Bonnar being jokingly ‘banished’ for seemingly overreacting during a discussion.
Similarly, it seemed Claudia offered a significant clue to the contestants on Wednesday night’s show, where celebrities had to walk across a shaky wooden bridge.
Claudia admitted, ‘I’m seeing a different side of Cat,’ as they watched him cautiously try to cross the bridge.
In an attempt to deflect from the controversial comment, Jonathan Ross – also removed from the show in that same episode – responded to Claudia by saying, ‘But think about how scary that must be.’
After Thursday night’s discussion, things became even more difficult for the Traitors. Joe, a 35-year-old former rugby player, became convinced he had figured out who the Traitors were.
Right after the meeting, he spoke privately with Nick, 45, and David, 55, and told them they all needed to focus their attention on Alan and Cat.
Joe explained to the cameras that Cat has been secretly working against them all game, and Nick finally convinced him of this during their recent conversation around the game table.
‘I think that Cat and Alan are Traitors. I think it might be both of them.’
I was chatting with Joe in the hallway, and he shared something a little… out there. He admitted it sounded crazy, but he’s absolutely convinced that Alan and Cat are involved. Honestly, he’s pretty sure they’re the ones we’ve been looking for, and knowing Joe, he’s probably thought this through quite a bit!
Okay, so I’m completely wrapped up in their world, practically orbiting them, because I know we’re all Faithful. I just feel it, you know? Like, I’m absolutely certain Nick is one of us, and you are too. Just… keep your eyes on them, that’s all. Watch what they do, because something’s going on, and we need to be ready.
At the end of the show, he explained his strategy: he’s planning to become close friends with Alan and Cat to ensure they don’t eliminate him from the competition.
I might try to surprise them with a sudden reversal right before it’s over. And to those who betrayed me, be warned – I’m coming after you.
Alan seemed to confirm Joe’s suspicions that he was a Traitor when he made a revealing mistake after the round table discussion. He laughed while telling the other players, ‘I am a Faithful,’ which was clearly untrue.
After the show, the contestants were asked to confirm to each other who among them were still considered Faithfuls. Host Claudia then led them outside for a nerve-wracking conversation around a campfire.
Host Claudia Winkleman brought the remaining contestants together and asked them to look into each other’s eyes while repeating the phrase, ‘I am a Faithful’.
Nick and David clearly stated they were Faithfuls, but Alan couldn’t announce his allegiance without bursting into laughter.
Okay, so I’ve seen this happen a lot – someone messes up, and instead of owning it, they try to deflect! This guy, Alan, clearly did something he regretted. He immediately started rambling, saying he was ‘faithful’ – which felt totally out of left field – and then admitted to being nervous, all while giggling and anxiously glancing at Claudia. It was a classic case of trying way too hard to appear innocent, and honestly, it just made things worse. The nervousness was a dead giveaway!
After the mistake, Joe stated that it further proved his suspicions about Alan, adding that Alan couldn’t even honestly say he was trustworthy.
‘If that’s not a red flag, then I don’t know what is.’
Viewers believe Joe has figured out that Alan and Cat are the Traitors, and they’re sharing their theories on X (formerly Twitter).
Someone else agreed, commenting, ‘I didn’t expect Joe Marler to be the most insightful player.’ Another person wrote, ‘Joe’s going to ruin things for Alan and Cat.’
‘Alan’s just handed it to them on a plate round that fire pit,’ a fourth added.
Someone else wrote, ‘Oh my goodness! Alan Carr’s laugh might have been a bit much… and now we have to wait a whole week to find out what happens next.’
