As a wine enthusiast who has traversed vineyards across the globe, I must say that Porte Noire, nestled in the heart of King’s Cross, London, is a haven that truly resonates with me. Co-owned by a multi-talented artist like Idris Elba, it exudes an air of sophistication and charm that is hard to resist. The Gasholders building, its home, is a historical gem transformed into a modern marvel, housing retail spaces that add to the vibrant ambiance of the area.

In the world of fame and fortune, it’s not all red carpets and private jets.

Instead of shining brightly under the limelight, some beloved stars have decided to take on a more grounded role, such as pouring beers and preparing traditional Sunday dinners!

Instead of just Jeremy Clarkson entering the mix with his new countryside tavern, Farmer’s Dog, TopMob embarked on a bar-hopping journey, visiting the local pubs owned by prominent figures in the entertainment industry.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I too have embraced the allure of maintaining a tradition, much like many celebrated figures before me. For instance, Jeremy has decided to preserve the classic charm of his pub by stocking it exclusively with produce sourced from the British Isles.

Can you figure out the rating for these distinctive pubs, ranging from luxurious, gourmet eateries to cozy, homey taverns?

The Half Moon, Kirdford

This 2 AA Rosette pub in the village of Kirdford, West Sussex, opened in 2018.

It boasts a bar, kitchen and English garden, with the chefs planning the menu depending on the season.

As a seasoned food enthusiast who has dined at countless restaurants over the years, I must say that this summer’s tasting menu offering is truly a culinary masterpiece worth savoring. For £75 per person, you can indulge in a delightful assortment of dishes that showcase the finest flavors and textures. The tender lamb dish, with its succulent juices and perfectly seasoned crust, brings back memories of my trip to New Zealand where I savored the same delicacy cooked by a local chef. The Monkfish, another standout item on the menu, is a testament to the skill of the kitchen team, as it melts in your mouth with each bite. The prawn kievs are reminiscent of my travels through France, where I was first introduced to this classic dish and have been longing to taste again. Lastly, the chocolate cherries, a decadent dessert that is both sweet and tangy, brings the entire meal together in a harmonious symphony of flavors. I highly recommend treating yourself to this exquisite tasting menu this summer!

At the tender age of 16, this famous personality stepped into the spotlight, but later chose to retreat and establish this place instead.

The star mentioned that going back to a peaceful rural lifestyle assisted them in ‘reducing’ or ‘managing’ their anxiety, following their departure from the modeling world.

They openly acknowledged pouring heart, effort, and emotion into The Half Moon, and confessed that, despite facing hurdles because of the pandemic, buying the pub has turned out to be one of their wisest choices.

After quitting her modelling career Jodie Kidd bought The Half Moon.

The Fox and Pheasant in Chelsea, London

In 2017, the Chelsea football pub transformed into a cherished local spot after being purchased by a well-known celebrity.

In June 2018, following an extensive makeover, The Fox and Pheasant was reopened, showcasing Edwardian aesthetics and a restaurant with a glass-roofed conservatory.

When discussing their new journey in the hospitality industry, they shared: ‘Being completely skilled for the job, the bar team secretly prefers I continue washing dishes since they’re somewhat self-conscious about me. Yet, owning a pub is absolutely fantastic!’

As a seasoned traveler who has visited countless pubs across the globe, I can confidently say that this 107-year-old establishment holds a unique charm unlike any other. Once known as the Fox and Unpleasant, it has undergone a transformation that breathes new life into its storied history. Having stepped foot in many aged taverns, I can attest to the character they carry. But this one, with its weathered walls and rich tales hidden within, stands out among the rest. After years of exploring and savoring the ambiance of such establishments, I can’t help but feel captivated by the allure of this remarkable pub.

In a light-hearted chat on The Project, this artist openly confessed they’d occasionally employ their tunes to encourage shoppers to depart.

That’s right! It’s James Blunt.

In September 2019, an upscale flower shop called Bertie Blossoms, situated on Portobello Road, was launched by a well-known singer, who dedicated it to their partner.

Regularly updating its offerings, this establishment is renowned for dishing out options like steak, pasta meals, and chocolate-prune brownies, priced at approximately £19 per serving.

Six months after its debut, the venue had to shut down due to the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020.

Notably, this well-known figure opted against laying off their restaurant’s ten employees during a period of closure, choosing instead to cover their salaries personally.

Last year, the pub encountered difficulties due to customers complaining about their £19 meals tasting like subpar microwaved dishes and appearing as though they were prepared in a mobile food truck.

Many people praise it, expressing their sentiments on TripAdvisor: “The cuisine is stunning, and the ambiance is warm and inviting. I can’t wait to return tomorrow.”

Bertie Blossoms is owned by none other than Ed Sheeran!

This homely establishment opened its doors in September, 2018.

Over time, it’s become a beloved spot for the community due to its combination of excellent cuisine and beverages, along with a laid-back atmosphere.

As a connoisseur of fine dining, I proudly present a menu that blends classic British pub cuisine with modern, innovative dishes. Our focus is on showcasing the best local produce, ensuring each meal is not only delicious but also supports our community.

In June 2022, The Tap & Run was severely damaged by a fire, which destroyed much of the building.

Following the fire, the celebrity owners vowed to rebuild and restore the establishment.

The celeb revealed at the time: ‘It was pretty much destroyed in there.

Both the first and second floors suffered extensive fire damage, with the roof being completely charred. Remarkably, the ground floor remained untouched by the flames, but it was heavily damaged from the water used to extinguish the fire. As a result, we’ve had to strip it down to its bare brick walls.

After extensive renovations and rebuilding, The Tap & Run reopened its doors in 2023.

The pub, easily identified by its distinctive cricket bat logo, is owned by renowned sports figures, Stuart Broad and Harry Gurney.

Cromlix Hotel, Dunblane

Celebrity pub wars! As Jeremy Clarkson's new boozer opens... can you guess which stars these pubs belong to?

Cromlix is a five-star country house hotel in Stirlingshire.

The establishment was originally built in 1874 as a family residence for the Napier family.

Year after year, this place morphed into a lavish hotel, only to shutter its grand entrance in 2012. But then, undergoing a massive facelift, I couldn’t believe my eyes when Cromlix Hotel announced its reopening in April 2014!

It then hosted guests for the wedding of the famous owner’s brother, who got married at the hotel.

It boasts 15 lavish bedrooms, featuring both suites and uniquely named rooms inspired by renowned Scottish figures.

The hotel features the prestigious restaurant, Chez Roux, managed by esteemed chefs Albert Roux (senior) and Michel Roux Jr., both of whom are French.

It has become one of Scotland’s top luxury hotels, attracting guests worldwide.

Recently, the well-known proprietor has encountered fresh hurdles, as plans submitted to Stirling Council disclosed their intention to replace the existing roof with a new slate one and also install skylights.

Yet, it’s been noted by the Scottish Wildlife Trust (SWT) that the presence of bats during roosting hours might disrupt plans if these animals are found.

And it’s owned by tennis legend Andy Murray and his wife, Kim.

Hotel Football, Old Trafford

As a devoted fan, I’d like to share my excitement about my recent discovery – staying at Hotel Football Old Trafford, a unique hotel themed around the beautiful game, nestled close to the legendary Old Trafford, the hallowed grounds of Manchester United Football Club.

The celebrity aimed to establish a hotel tailored for football enthusiasts, particularly those who frequent Old Trafford.

Back in March, 2015, I had the pleasure of stepping into an establishment tailored around a specific theme, perfectly timed to align with major football tournaments.

It features 133 guest rooms, all designed with a modern and sporty aesthetic.

The rooms are adorned with items related to football, such as football mementos, wall art, and designs reminiscent of the sport itself.

1) The primary eatery at the hotel goes by the name ‘Café Football,’ serving a meal plan inspired by soccer (or football). Although it’s not high-end cuisine, it’s highly appreciated by the enthusiastic supporters.

And the stay is clearly a hit, as it currently sports a 4.5 out of 5 on Trip Advisor.

One visitor remarked: ‘This hotel was flawlessly excellent, impeccably clean throughout. The accommodations were pristine. The team members were exceptionally amiable and accommodating. The snacks in the minibar came as a delightful bonus and were provided at no cost.’

1. “The rooftop soccer field turned out to be a fantastic bonus, beneficial not just for my kid, but also for myself. The breathtaking vistas encompassing the entire region and Old Trafford made it even more enjoyable. Our stay was limited to one night this time; next visit, we plan to extend our stay longer.”

The hotel was founded by ex-Manchester United soccer player Gary Neville, together with some of his fellow ‘Class of ’92’ teammates such as Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, and Phil Neville.

Porte Noire, King’s Cross

As a devoted enthusiast, I simply can’t get enough of the exquisite charm that is Porte Noire, nestled in the heart of King’s Cross, London. This captivating wine bar and shop is no ordinary establishment; it’s a joint venture with a star-studded trio – a renowned actor, musician, and DJ – who have poured their passion into every nook and cranny.

The bar can be found inside the renovated Gasholders building, an old yet renowned landmark, now transformed into a contemporary mix of homes and shops.

The wine bar officially opened in October 2021.

In the heart of Porte Noire, I find myself captivated by its contemporary allure. Here, I’m immersed in an elegant blend of deep hues, luxurious textures, and fashionable accents that make up the stunning interior design.

The space includes a large wine display showcasing an extensive collection of bottles worldwide.

Although the wine has received high praise, the food has garnered a range of opinions. A critic from The Independent suggested the well-known proprietor should focus on his liquor, and recommended that this famous figure enhance their menu offerings.

The elegant London-based eatery is owned by Idris Elba and his business partner David Farber.

Celebrity pub wars! As Jeremy Clarkson's new boozer opens... can you guess which stars these pubs belong to?

The Mikkeller Brewpub London is nestled within the vibrant Shoreditch district of London, and it’s not just any ordinary pub—it’s both a craft beer bar and a brewery that shares ownership with a renowned British pop music icon.

As a connoisseur of all things lifestyle, let me share my experience with a fantastic two-story pub that graced us with its presence back in October 2019. Since then, it’s been a local favorite due to its impressive selection of 18 ever-flowing beer taps!

As a connoisseur of fine beverages, I’m always on the lookout for brands that push the boundaries and offer something truly unique. One such brand that consistently stands out in the global craft beer scene is renowned for its daring and exploratory approach to brewing.

Established in 2006 in Copenhagen, Mikkeller has broadened its horizons, setting up bars and breweries in various global cities, such as London.

The company has a reputation for teaming up with numerous artists, musicians, and other creative personalities.

The pub often organizes various gatherings such as beer sampling sessions, live musical acts, and theme-based evenings on a regular basis.

And it is co-owned by none other than 80s pop legend, Rick Astley.
