Celebrity chef Khanh Ong's three ingredient 'Christmas crack' festive treat goes viral: 'It's addictive'

As a dedicated follower of MasterChef Australia, I can wholeheartedly say that Khanh Ong’s Christmas Crack recipe is nothing short of a culinary revelation! With my years of cooking experience under my apron, I have tried countless desserts, but this one has left me utterly amazed.

Famous chef Khanh Ong has made food enthusiasts drool once more by posting the recipe for his scrumptious “Christmas Crack” dessert on the internet.

2023 saw a social media sensation when the renowned MasterChef Australia chef shared an easy-to-make dessert recipe that only required five basic items: butter, brown sugar, chocolate, and Salada crackers.

Now, the well-known culinary enthusiast has once more outdone themselves, subtly adjusting the recipe compared to last year’s version.

Taking to Instagram, Khanh shared a video explaining how to make the viral concoction.

Instead of using Salada crackers like those in the popular treat that went viral last year, Khanh suggested opting for pretzels or Crunchy Nut Cornflakes as a base for this year’s festive dessert.

Essentially, Khanh suggested that whatever you choose for the base layer should only fill up the baking tray without being excessively thick or overlapping too much.

‘Thin is better cause of how hard the sugar becomes it’s easier to eat.’

Khan’s third version of the seemingly straightforward recipe utilizes only three fundamental components: butter, Crunchy Nut Cornflakes, and dark chocolate.

In his video description, he mentioned that some people suggested using white chocolate or Caramilk, but honestly, given how sweet the recipe is already, he opted for Caramilk the previous year and found it less enjoyable compared to dark chocolate.

‘This doesn’t need the extra sweetness.’

The recipe also calls for salt flakes and a topping of your choosing to finish the dish.

In the video, Khanh spreads a mix of Crunchy Nut Cornflakes and pretzels at the base of the tray, followed by pouring a sticky caramel sauce on top prior to baking.

When prepared, he takes out the tray and puts chocolate, along with a sprinkle of salt flakes and coconut, into the hot mixture.

He mentioned that you’re free to choose your own toppings for the treat, but the salt flakes are absolutely essential.

After that, he put the Christmas cookie in the refrigerator to harden, then took it out and broke it into small, manageable pieces.

‘F me,’ Khanh exclaimed in the video after tasing his concoction. ‘This is that good.’

Since its posting, the video has garnered over 16,000 likes across various platforms, indicating widespread approval online.

A multitude of people filled the comment area, expressing admiration for Kahnh’s recipe while also sharing suggestions on how to achieve the ideal holiday delicacy.
