Celebrity Big Brother star and famed paparazzo Darryn Lyons looks unrecognisable 13 years after stint on the show as he quits Australia – but does he still have those fake abs?

As an ardent follower of the extraordinary lives of celebrities, I find myself utterly captivated by the transformative journey of Darryn Lyons. The former Mayor of Geelong and the infamous paparazzi photographer has undeniably carved out a niche for himself in the annals of pop culture history.

On Thursday, Darryn Lyons, formerly known for his appearance on Celebrity Big Brother, seemed almost unidentifiable as he took a leisurely walk in his recently adopted city of London, appearing in a different light.

Instead of his iconic fiery red hair from his reality TV years, the lively celebrity photographer, now 59, has opted for trendy platinum-blond hairstyle instead.

Darryn displayed an original style by wearing a striking blue and red long-sleeved shirt adorned with patterns, layered over a plain white t-shirt that showcased a logo, accompanied by blue denim pants and clean white Adidas shoes.

He added to his unique style with slick red-framed aviator glasses and a designer watch.

It appears that the previous mayor of Geelong has gained weight compared to a few years back when he was often seen without a shirt, showing off his well-defined abs. It’s unclear whether he still maintains his muscular build now.

Yet, maintaining the same charming, winning smile that captivated countless admirers during his tenure on the popular British reality show, I found myself consistently drawn to him.

To some, Darryn is known as the exuberant former mayor of Geelong; to others, he is recognized as the vibrantly-pink-haired photographer who often sports muscular abs.

Eight years have passed since I lost my mayoral seat in that Australian city, but it seems the old me is still alive and kicking, as evident from a string of Instagram posts I shared this year.

In 2011, when he appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in the UK, the businessperson became well-known for unveiling a pair of extremely sculpted, yet entirely artificial, abs.

In July, Darryn verified that the six-pack made of silicon was intact and accurate when he took off his shirt for a video on Instagram.

In 2009, instead of continuing with regular gym workouts, renowned ex-celebrity photographer Lyons opted for a surgical procedure to remove excess fat, resulting in the well-defined six-pack abs he now sports.

After Lyons’ stint on Celebrity Big Brother, his photo agency, which had been in business for 20 years by selling paparazzi photos to major global magazines and newspapers, ended up in bankruptcy. As a result, Lyons found himself without work once more.

Instead of pursuing photography at age 22 upon moving to London, he embarked on a different journey and eventually found himself immersed in politics, a field that once seemed quite distant.

In the year 2013, Darryn, having returned to his childhood home of Geelong, which was also the location of his alma mater, Geelong East Technical School, successfully campaigned for and was elected as mayor.

Later, both the ex-photographer and the Greater Geelong City Council were terminated by the Victorian government following an investigation that uncovered significant internal discord within the council.
