Cecilie Bahnsen Reimagines PORTER’s Nylon Bags With Laser-Cut Florals

Summary

  • PORTER has tapped Danish designer Cecilie Bahnsen for 3 item collection, updating the Japanese brand’s functional designs with romantic details.
  • Set for release on June 5, the collection marks the second installment of Yoshida & Co.’s 90th anniversary celebration.

In the second phase of Yoshida & Co., Ltd.’s 90th anniversary launch, the PORTER line has partnered with Cecilie Bahnsen for a unique collaboration. This collaboration involves reinterpreting PORTER’s iconic nylon bags with romantic themes. Known for her collaborations with Asics and The North Face in recent collections, Cecilie Bahnsen now focuses on accessories. She infuses her signature embellishments into the functional designs of PORTER.

At the forefront of our assortment, you’ll find the backpack, crafted from all-black nylon twill and adorned with black-on-black embroidery and laser-cut flowers – a signature touch from Bahnsen. The 2 Way Tool Bag, presented in timeless olive green Khaki, gentle Gratian Blue, and black, showcases a bolder design concept, blending the aesthetics of an upscale handbag with those of a tool carrier for a unique model. Lastly, the most compact item is the Bonsac Mini, available in the same color options, featuring a smaller design.

In reference to the latest project, Bahnsen expressed, “This is an emotional endeavor, involving sifting through past experiences to determine what to preserve and what to reimagine.” Emphasizing the allure of subtle elegance over extravagant spectacles, Bahnsen’s minimalist style gracefully showcases PORTER’s robust nylon materials. At the same time, the collection’s romantic nuances embody a modern aspect of PORTER’s visual persona as it approaches its centennial in the business world.

The collaboration between Cecilie Bahnsen and PORTER is scheduled to launch on June 5, simultaneously available at PORTER SHINJUKU’s physical store and Yoshida & Co.’s online store.
