CD Projekt Red to partner with Scopely for a new title based on its IP
Story Highlights
- CD Projekt Red has confirmed a partnership with Scopely to develop a new game based on its own IP.
- Though details remain undisclosed, speculation grows on if it will be Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher, or a different title.
CD Projekt Red, the team responsible for creating both ‘The Witcher’ and ‘Cyberpunk 2077’, has officially entered into a collaboration with Scopely to develop a new game using their intellectual property. This news was shared during CD Projekt Red’s FY 2024 earnings conference call.
The details of the CD Projekt Red x Scopely partnership remain under wraps
Nonetheless, no specifics were disclosed about the franchise to be transformed or the type of game in question. During the earnings conference, Barclays analyst Nick Dempsey inquired whether CD Projekt would receive an initial licensing payment from Scopely or if the profits would be divided at a later stage.

CD Projekt’s Joint CEO, Michal Nowakowski, chose not to provide any additional details beyond the initial announcement. In other words, he stated that they don’t have more information about that topic to share during this call.
Scopely, recognized primarily for its creation of MONOPOLY GO!, has been making significant strides within the realm of gaming. The company recently purchased Niantic, known for developing Pokémon GO, in a whopping $3.5 billion agreement. Since Scopely has mainly concentrated on mobile games, it’s possible they may also venture into PC and console markets.
I’m wondering what kind of game this could potentially be. Last year, Michal Nowakowski hinted that either Cyberpunk 2077 or The Witcher might make their way to mobile devices during an earnings call. Could it possibly be one of those games or something entirely new we’re waiting for? The anticipation starts now.
