CBS’s most enduring comedy series has finished filming its final episodes. Although CBS has limited new programming planned for late 2025 and early 2026, production hasn’t completely stopped. Most of CBS’s scripted shows resumed filming over the winter to ensure there are enough episodes to air until the show concludes, typically in May.
Over the past few weeks, regular network TV programming has been limited for a few reasons. Some shows, like Shifting Gears, have finished their seasons, while others, including High Potential and 9-1-1, are temporarily on hold. Additionally, NBC’s coverage of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan has caused disruptions, meaning shows like those in the Law & Order and One Chicago series aren’t currently airing new episodes.
Well, it’s official – that’s a wrap on The Neighborhood! I just saw on Tichina Arnold’s Instagram that they’ve finished filming the final episodes of CBS’s long-running sitcom. The video she shared is pretty emotional – Cedric the Entertainer gave a really heartfelt speech to the whole cast and crew, including Max Greenfield and Beth Behrs. Definitely worth checking out the clip – it’s a bittersweet moment for everyone involved.
The CBS comedy The Neighborhood premiered in 2018. Although critics weren’t overly impressed, the show gained a loyal following. After it was canceled, plans were made for a spin-off series focusing on Malcolm and Marty, the sons of Calvin and Tina, as they moved from Pasadena to Venice Beach. However, CBS ultimately decided not to produce the spin-off.
The storyline originally planned for a cancelled spin-off will now be included in the last few episodes of The Neighborhood‘s eighth season. While details are still unknown, there are suggestions that Marty and Courtney might get married soon. Interestingly, a video from the final day of filming showed Dave and Gemma’s house completely packed, leading many to believe the series will conclude as it began – with the Grover family moving again.
As The Neighborhood wraps up, CBS currently has only two comedies guaranteed for the 2026-2027 television season. Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage and Ghosts have both been picked up for additional seasons – season 3 and season 6, respectively. It’s unclear if CBS plans to add any new comedies to its lineup right now. Regardless, The Neighborhood‘s departure will create a noticeable gap in CBS’s programming next fall.
