CBB Star Chesney Hawkes’ Love Story: He Knew His Wife Was ‘The One and Only’ After Just One Meeting

On Monday evening, Chesney Hawkes was warmly welcomed into the Celebrity Big Brother house as the audience erupted in applause.

However, amidst the crowd’s backing, it’s worth noting that for nearly three decades, his unwavering supporter has been his cherished spouse, Krissy.

In the year 1995, the popular ’90s pop star who sang “The One And Only” (released in 1991) met his American wife Krissy at a pub located in Barnes. From their very first encounter, Chesney couldn’t help but be smitten with her.

At age 22, Chesney encountered Krissy for the first time. She, along with another model friend, had dropped by the pub where his friend was performing a live set.

Speaking with The Guardian in 2022, he shared that from their initial encounter, he promised to wed her. He recounted, “It seemed unbelievable they were there instead of, perhaps, in the West End. I approached one and asked if I could treat her to a drink, and she responded with a pint of lager, please. I was astonished! I nervously asked if she’d marry me.

He continued: ‘She had no idea who I was when we met and she keeps me on a level emotionally. 

In terms of finances, it’s important to note that at the time we first met, I was in quite a financial predicament. Fortunately, she entered my life. Her father was a banker, and she has a keen eye for finance. So, she said something like, ‘Alright, let’s reorganize your finances.’

The couple went on to tie the knot on July 4 1997, exactly two years after meeting.  

Meanwhile, he recently credited her with being a sensible influence. 

He shared with the My Dirty Laundry podcast that they are unlike typical popstars or models in a union. They have been a group for a significant 28 years now, which is this current year.

She’s simply extraordinary. To be honest, my affection for her has grown even stronger over time. Incredibly, it seems that my feelings for her are deeper than they’ve ever been. Truly, our relationship holds immense importance in my life.

She possesses a unique charm, and I must admit, she plays an integral part in shaping the person I am. Frankly, maintaining such a relationship can be challenging, particularly given my profession that keeps me constantly on tour and traveling. However, I deeply cherish her.

Originally residing part-time in both Los Angeles and the United Kingdom, the family consisting of parents and children Casey (aged 23), Jesse (21), and Indi (18) made a permanent move to Surrey in 2024, choosing to live near where Chesney had spent his childhood.

In the course of this year, he shared the secrets to his 28-year long marriage, explaining that spending time apart helps strengthen their bond even more.

On Monday, Chesney stepped into the Celebrity Big Brother residence, pocketing an estimated £25,000 as his participation fee.

Additionally, it’s reported that the renowned musician is residing at home more for reputation than riches; however, he has shared insights about his past financial struggles.

Regardless of the £8.2 million earned from the song in Buddy’s Song, Chesney, 53, admitted on the My Dirty Laundry podcast that he squandered the massive amount and eventually wore himself out with extreme fatigue due to his excessive lifestyle.

Chesney bustled into the house, chuckling about his fondness for going au naturel and referencing one of his well-known tunes, following his label as a ‘novelty act’ and receiving a salary that ranked second lowest – only slightly higher than Ella Rae Wise from TOWIE, who earned £20,000.

Last year, I admitted that my lavish lifestyle had left me in a tight spot financially, draining my savings – and I can only imagine how refreshing it must be for me to receive the winnings from Big Brother!

On Monday, I couldn’t contain my excitement as I watched Kenny Chesney step into that legendary abode, joining a stellar lineup that includes Mickey Rourke, Jack P Shepherd, and Patsy Palmer! It was a moment that had the whole CBB community buzzing with anticipation.

Before the premiere of the show, it was reported that the actors’ earnings were disclosed, alleging that Mickey received a £500k payment and Jojo Siwa was earning £400k.

Meanwhile, it’s being reported that Chesney ranks as the second least wealthy, but behind-the-scenes sources claim he’s participating in the show primarily to gain publicity rather than money, despite his past struggles with finances due to questionable decisions he made.

As Coronation Street fans found themselves irritated by Chesney during the return of the popular series to ITV2 on Monday night.

In the 90s, a well-known singer joined an extravagant home filled with celebrities, including Trisha Goddard (age 67), Patsy Palmer (age 52), and Mickey Rourke (age 72), who is also an actor from Hollywood.

Nevertheless, it appears that Ella Rae Wise, aged 24, was the one who seemed to irk Chesney, given his frequent silencing of her, much like a school teacher might do.

While celebrities mingled and became acquainted, The One and Only made a shushing gesture with his hand to his mouth, urging Ella to keep silent.

When talking to X fans, it could be rephrased as: ‘Chesney silencing her… does he think he’s some sort of teacher?’ or ‘Chesney shushing her… doesn’t he have a teaching job?’ or ‘Chesney silenced her… I thought he was someone else’. The last sentence, ‘Did Chesney just shush everyone?! Hate him already’, could be rephrased as: ‘Did Chesney just silence everyone? I can’t stand him’.
