Cause of death determined for Lucy-Bleu Knight, daughter of Slash's girlfriend

As a fervent admirer of the vibrant and enigmatic spirit that was Lucy-Bleu Knight, it is with a heavy heart I find myself compelled to share my thoughts on this tragic news. Life, as we know, can be a labyrinthine journey filled with twists and turns, but few paths are as intricate or complex as the one Lucy-Bleu traversed.

According to the Los Angeles County medical examiner, it’s been determined that Lucy-Bleu Knight took her own life.

On a Thursday announcement, the coroner’s office reported that a 25-year-old girl, who happened to be the daughter of Slash’s partner, Meegan Hodges, passed away last month due to hydrogen sulfide poisoning. The cause of death was determined to be suicide.

Hydrogen sulfide is an odor-reminiscent-of-rotten-eggs, colorless, flammable gas that is incredibly poisonous. Exposure to it can lead to very swift loss of consciousness and potentially death, according to the CDC’s Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry.

On July 19, law enforcement discovered an unresponsive individual, later identified as a knight, during a welfare check at a private residence. Regrettably, she was pronounced dead at 3 p.m. that day. A thorough examination of her body took place on July 22, the day following the announcement of her death by her family via social media. The coroner certified her cause of death on Thursday. The medical examiner’s office anticipates having a comprehensive report prepared by September 10.

On July 21st, both Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash (real name: Saul Hudson) and his bandmate Duff McKagan posted identical messages on their social media platforms, announcing the passing of their friend and collaborator, the late Toma Knight. In these statements, they kindly asked fans to refrain from excessive speculation about her death.

After my loved ones shared their heartfelt announcement, an intriguing post mysteriously appeared on my Instagram page, igniting curiosity among followers about its relevance to my passing and sparking numerous guesses and theories in the comments below.

“Whether I made you feel excluded, manipulated/ controlled you, told you to quit your day job from the comfort of being financially supported by my parents, or drowned real issues in toxic positivity – I am sorry,” the post said. “Countless missed opportunities and connections due to a disgustingly big ego, insecure heart and fear of being vulnerable. May my soul learn to evolve from my poor job at being Lucy-Bleu. Peace.”

Slash, aged 59, has two musician sons, London and Cash, with his former wife Perla Ferrar. The legendary heavy-metal guitarist had a relationship with Hodges in the late 80s, and it’s said they reconnected after he filed for divorce from Ferrar in 2014. (Their divorce was finalized in 2018.)

London Hudson, a part of the band Return to Dust, has just dedicated their current tour with Chevelle in honor of Knight. He’s chosen to pay tribute to him by posting about him across his Instagram feed.

On the past weekend, Hodges shared a heartfelt tribute to her daughter and expressed gratitude towards her audience for their sympathetic messages of love and condolence.

“On Instagram, she expressed that Lucy-Bleu has deeply moved everyone, just as she has touched your heart. Although we’ll miss her dearly, her spirit will remain etched in our memories forever.”

On Friday, she said that Thursday was one of the worst days in her grieving and healing journey.

“I woke up thinking everything of hers is disappearing,” she wrote on Instagram stories. “Her smell, her art, things I can’t find of hers that mean so much to me. Her physical being is gone. This pain is is [sic] awful. It’s the worse [sic] feeling one could feel. I know I have to get through this pain till it’s a little less in the day or doesn’t last as long. Some days are just the absolute worse [sic]. For all of you that reach out to me and ask if I want to go for a walk or talk or distract me… Keep asking. I’ll be down for something hopefully soon. Today I pray it’s a better day then [sic] yesterday.”

A representative for Slash did not immediately respond Friday to The Times’ request for comment.
