Catholic influencer Paul J. Kim has announced the shocking death of his five-year-old son.
Kim’s son, Micah, passed away on New Year’s Eve after a brave fight against a serious case of the flu. He had been hospitalized for eleven days, and the flu led to sepsis and seizures. He eventually needed life support, but sadly didn’t recover.
Kim, a 44-year-old father of six, announced the sad passing of his son, Micah, in a heartfelt message to his Instagram followers on January 1st. After battling for eleven days, Micah sadly passed away, and Kim shared that he had ‘gone home to be with God.’
With tears in her eyes, Kim expressed how proud her family was and shared heartfelt thanks for all the prayers and support received during a difficult time.
This has been an unbelievably challenging time for our family. It’s the most difficult experience I’ve ever faced, and it’s still ongoing.
Even though I really need privacy and time to grieve with my family right now, I wanted to share a quick update with you all, simply to express my thanks.

Micah is now with God, and it’s amazing to see how He’s using Micah, even at five years old, to impact people’s lives and make a difference in the world. We’ve heard so many incredible stories of how God is working through her.
As many of you know, my family and I are going through a really tough time right now. It’s truly heartbreaking, but we’re leaning on our faith to get us through. We’re trying to navigate this new chapter, learning to trust in something bigger than ourselves, and we would be so grateful for your prayers and support as we do.
During those intense two weeks, we worked tirelessly and sought advice from legal, medical, and ethics experts, even reaching out beyond the hospital staff.
We wanted to be absolutely certain we’d explored every option. Essentially, we were trying to give Micah as much time as possible before his passing.
As a father, it was my responsibility to do everything I could. Even if, ultimately, it wasn’t God’s plan for him to get better.
On December 21st, Kim shared that her son, Micah, was facing a medical emergency and was being transported to the hospital by ambulance.
He’d been asking his fans to pray for his son, Micah, who was seriously ill, and often shared updates and videos of Micah’s hospital stay and treatment.
Kim had shared that Micah’s brain scans showed no activity, and doctors believed his son, who was on a ventilator, would need a miracle to live.
Although Micah’s heart showed some improvement on Christmas Day, he still had dangerous swelling in his brain.

On December 27th, Kim reported that a brain scan showed extensive damage, and doctors believe there’s no chance of recovery.
Okay, look, things are really, really bad. Honestly, it feels like only a miracle can help us now. It’s just… crushing, you know? My heart is completely shattered, but I refuse to give up. I just… I can’t. I’ll keep fighting for them, for everything, as long as… well, as long as fate allows it. I’m holding onto hope, even when it feels impossible.
Gwen Stefani has shown her support for Kim by commenting ‘praying for you’ on one of his posts.
A GoFundMe in support of Micah, his family and his medical bills topped $350,000.
Kim wrote the popular book A Catholic Guide to Adulting and started the Triumph Men’s Conference.
He gained a huge following on social media as a therapist, missionary, and youth minister.
