Catherine Zeta-Jones faces criticism due to her ‘unsettling’ and ‘extremely inappropriate’ remark towards a young admirer who was underage.
Last week on “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” the 55-year-old celebrity known as ‘The Wednesday Star’ recounted an interesting meeting she had with a 12-year-old admirer.
The actress spoke about the upcoming second season of her popular Netflix show, mentioning that she’s attracting a fresh wave of admirers.
She recalled playing golf with her husband Michael Douglas, 80, when a young fan approached.
‘While I was practicing, a very adorable 12-year-old boy approached me for my signature, which was quite endearing. At that moment, I joked to myself, “When this sweet boy is 33, I’ll be 70.”‘
The video spread rapidly across social media, drawing criticism from some who deemed her words inappropriate, while others saw it as mere humor.

Following her comment, Seth wondered if Michael could notice when you were calculating mentally in such a manner.
Catherine clarified, “No, he often assumes I’m deciding which club to use, but I’m not. Instead, I’m thinking, ‘I’m confident everything will be alright then.’
Seth joked, ‘That’s good. As long as you know not to give them your number when they’re 12.’
Many fans were not amused by the ‘wild’ comment.
‘That twelve y/o boy comment was frickin wild,’ one wrote under a TIkTok clip of the moment.
‘That twelve yr old what nowwww.’
The individual added, “It seems like you’re being lenient towards her because you like her, or it could come off as unsettling as it may seem.” Another person commented, “That certainly appears creepy. It’s inappropriate to entertain such thoughts during an interaction with a 12-year-old.
‘I’m not liking the “oh he’ll be 30 by that time” comment. I don’t think it was appropriate.’

Instead of saying, “I’m more perplexed by why Seth Meyers went along with it – someone should’ve said this isn’t okay,” you could rephrase it as: “What puzzles me is Seth Meyers agreeing to it; somebody ought to have spoken up and expressed that it wasn’t appropriate.
Hey, I understand her marriage to an older man is a topic, but she was fully grown when she decided on it. It’s inappropriate to discuss a person in such a manner as if they were still a child. Frankly, I find it disturbing that she found this anecdote amusing enough to share publicly. My advice? Let’s move past this story.
‘Well that was awkward.’
‘What an odd thing to say.’
A month ago, Catherine marked her 25th wedding anniversary with her husband, Michael, dismissing those who had once doubted their relationship would endure.
She shared with The Sun that we’ve been married for 25 years, making it a milestone worth celebrating, and yet there were those who predicted our relationship wouldn’t endure.
In 2000, it seemed unusual that a well-known Welsh actress and a seasoned Hollywood star, who had a difference of about a quarter century in their ages, chose to marry in an extravagant wedding at a top-tier New York Hotel.
Despite initial skepticism, the happily married pair, who are proud parents to Dylan, age 25, and Carys, age 22, have successfully dispelled their critics. Catherine delightfully describes their union as brimming with ‘lots of love and laughter.’

Although she was eager to, Catherine mentioned that she couldn’t join the celebration because she had obligations related to filming Netflix’s series Wednesday, where she takes on the role of Morticia Adams.
She shared with the media: “This year, I’ve been extremely busy at work, but he’s been incredibly supportive. Given that I’m going to be filming season three over the holidays, we might throw a party instead. My break is quite limited this time.
Previously, Catherine pondered over the highs and lows that marked her marriage, as they went through a temporary separation in 2013 due to his tongue cancer treatment and her diagnosis of bipolar disorder. However, they managed to mend their relationship in 2014.
In a 2023 interview with The Telegraph, she expressed that living with someone day in and day out inevitably brings periods of highs and lows.
